Arthouse Cinema Meetings: also the Silver Lion Matteo Garrone in Mantua.
There will be also Matthew Garrone among the numerous artists present at the next ones Arthouse Cinema Meetings, organized by FICE (Italian Federation of Arthouse Cinema) in Mantua from 2 to 5 October.
Garrone, awarded at the last Venice Film Festival with the Silver Lion for the direction of the intense I captain, and recently selected to represent Italy at Oscar Award for International Film 2024, will in fact be on stage at Bibiena Theater in Mantua on Wednesday 4 October, during an evening hosted by journalist Maurizio Di Rienzo in which the FICE AWARDS will be awarded to the excellence of Italian cinema.
A much deserved recognition for one of cinema's leading directors Italian and international, who can boast a long filmography dotted with numerous and prestigious awards. Just to name a few, the Special Grand Prix of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival for Gomorrah (2008) and Reality (2012); The Golden globe directed by Gomorrah (2008) and for the screenplay of The Tale of Tales – Tale of tales (2015); triple European Film Awards for Gomorrah (film, direction and screenplay); in addition to the countless awards received in Italy (including David di Donatello, Nastri d'Argento and Ciak d'Oro). The director joins the artists who have already confirmed theirs presence as award winners. Among these Marco Bellocchio, Salvatore Ficarra and Valentino Picone, Barbora Bobulova, Leonardo Maltese, Micaela Ramazzotti, Andrea Di Stefano (present in Mantua on 3 October), the editor Francesca Calvelli and the producer Carlo Cresto-Dina. Special guest, on the evening of October 2nd, Claudio Bisio (in the room to present his directorial debut The Last Time We Were Children).
The delivery of FICE AWARDS it's just one of the many events in the event's busy schedule Arthouse Cinema Meetings, main event dedicated to auteur cinema, which will see people present in Mantua hundreds of industry professionals (exhibitors, producers, distributors, press, festival organisers). A program that provides over 20 previews (among these the Golden Lion Poor Creatures!), trailers, numerous screenings for the city and for the schools of Mantua. There will be no shortage of moments dedicated to operators to address the pulse of the arthouse cinema situation: this is the case of the Conference (on the morning of 4 October) entitled Italian Cinema at a turning point.
