PESARO 2024 DISCOVERING MACERATA FELTRY
From 2 to 8 September the Municipality of Macerata Feltria – together with Frontone – the new protagonist of '50×50: Capitals squared', the symbolic project of Pesaro 2024 which sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in turn, Capital for a week throughout 2024. The program – entitled From Pitinum Pisaurense to the Unification of Italy: History and Culture in Macerata Feltria – offers a rich proposal between conferences, guided tours, museums open all week, archaeology, music, editorial presentations, theatre workshops for the little ones, parades in period costume and cavalry, fanfares and Garibaldi commemorations.
They were present at the conference Daniele Vimini Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Pesaro, for Macerata Feltria the Deputy Mayor Mario Gallerani and Damien Fattori municipal councilor and head of the Pro Loco of Macerata Feltria.
Daniele Vimini opened: “We are pleased with this double opportunity in a period that is still summer, a double proposal for a program that has worked very well so far with an excellent impact on the Pesaro 2024 calendar. Moreover, these are two municipalities - Frontone and Macerata Feltria - that already have consolidated relationships with us at various levels. I remember that both weeks focus on the key values of Pesaro 2024: art, nature and landscape, environmental sustainability, technology. You can see that there has been a strong effort in programming”.
Mario Gallerani illustrated the program which revolves around the history of Macerata Feltria, as is also clear from the title. This year marks the 175th anniversary of Garibaldi's passage through Macerata Feltria and the logo created for the week is also inspired by this historical episode. In the program great emphasis on young people because their value for the country is indispensable.
Damien Fattori concluded: this week closes for us a phase that began 5/6 years ago when the young people were 'lost' in Macerata Feltria, now instead there is a large community of young people who are part of the Pro Loco and are also represented in the City Council. All this gives a sense of the future and this week will show what Macerata Feltria is capable of doing.
