Livorno: The Terrazza Mascagni Gazebo lights up in Green for “World Mental Health Day”

October 10th is the “World Mental Health Day” which this year is entitled “Mental Health in the Workplace”.

For this celebration, From 19pm this evening until the following morning the Gazebo of the Terrazza Mascagni will be lit up in green: the initiative is part of the program of celebrations promoted by the Avofasam Association and follows the conference 'In rete per la Salute Mentale' promoted by Avofasam on September 27 at the Sala Pamela Ognissanti in Livorno. The conference, held with the patronage of the Municipality, saw a large presence of qualified speakers, representatives of local authorities, doctors and operators in the sector as well as family members and users of local services.

People suffering from mental disorders (and their loved ones) are frequently victims of isolation and prejudice that impacts their everyday lives, experiencing stigma and discrimination. Even job prospects and psychological well-being are affected by the lack of adequate investments (compared to overall health expenditure), so this disparity in treatment compared to other pathologies must be overcome and positive actions must be promoted that allow those suffering from mental disorders to exercise their right to treatment, prevention and reintegration into social life for a better quality of life that increasingly meets their expectations.
