Lecco, HacK4tourism: the challenge is back
The solution making marathon for sustainable tourism kicks off on April 17th
Lecco, after a year the challenge of “Hack4tourism". The first hackathon on the civil economy of the Province of Lecco in fact it should have been held last year, but the outbreak of the pandemic had forced the promoters - Consolida Consolida, Legambiente Lecco, the Municipality of Lecco and Studio Ares - to suspend the initiative. A solution making marathon could only find a way to reinvent itself and be able to launch its challenge while respecting the rules for containing the pandemic.
The theme remains the same: engage young people in identifying innovative tourist proposals for the territory and sustainable from an environmental and social point of view. The event in fact fits within the context of Civil economy district promoted by the Municipality of Lecco. Even the interlocutors remain, in fact, the kids: the "challenge" will be launched on Friday 9 April at 17pm on Facebook pages of Legambiente Lecco, Consolida Consortium and Municipality of Lecco and it will be possible apply by Friday 16 April at 12pm through the platform Eventbrite. They will be able to sign up subject to availability children born between 1991 and 2004, with participation priority based on the order of registration, residence or attendance of training or school activities in the city of Lecco, the heterogeneity of the team's skills in the subcategories indicated by the challenge, and the course of study. It will also be possible to participate in teams made up of three to five membersi, reporting it on the registration form and filling out a form for each team member.
The way the Hackathon is carried out changes slightly: as mentioned, the challenge launch will take place online; the marathon of ideas will begin on Saturday 17 April and continue until Sunday 18 and will take place at the Lecco headquarters of the Polytechnic of Lecco. Distancing and safety conditions will be guaranteed by the fact that participants will be divided into groups based on the four "sub-challenges": slow tourism, circular economy, sustainable mobility and agri-food supply chain. During these hours the groups will work alongside the mentors to create prototypes, i.e. models that partially or completely simulate a new service/device capable of responding to the identified needs. Sunday afternoon, at the end of the group work, we will go back online for the presentation of the participants' proposals, the evaluation and awarding of the winning ideas.
But the challenge doesn't end there. The four awarded groups, one per category, they will have the opportunity to develop their idea within the business plan of a third sector reality in the province of Lecco, who will be responsible for integrating the team with the skills made available and for submitting the project to the call for ideas of the tender ECO – Community Economies of the Cariplo Foundation in order to obtain an accompaniment and mentorship path of approximately three months for the actual detailed construction of the business idea. Projects that demonstrate more solidity and greater territorial impacts from a green perspective will be able to obtain further funding from local stakeholders.
