“Lecce Share”: the SGM project starts to encourage sustainable mobility in the city
It was presented today, in the hall Open Space of Palazzo Carafa, the shared mobility project “Lecce Share”.
Born on the initiative of SGM – Società Gestiona Multipla Spa and financed by the Puglia Region through the "Resources of the National Fund for the State's financial contribution to the costs of Local Public Transport" of the Ministry of Transport, the project will officially start on 1 February 2024 and end by 30 June 2025.
Purpose of “Lecce Share” is to encourage sustainable mobility through the integration of the city's Urban Public Transport service with the sharing services already present in Lecce, i.e. scooters, electric bicycles, muscle-powered bicycles. Users who use shared mobility services will be able to save up to 95% on subscriptions dedicated to sharing. Those who use the Urban Public Transport SGM, by purchasing a personal monthly subscription (ordinary, subsidized or university) they will have the possibility of integrating it with a discounted subscription to one of the two sharing services available, electric scooters/bicycles (Bit Mobility) or muscle-powered bicycles (Lebike), or to both.
The discounts reserved for users of the services of sharing vary from 85% to 95%, depending on the choice made and the LPT subscriptions purchased (ordinary, with discounts or free). For example, those who purchase an ordinary monthly subscription to the TPL, which costs 29 euros, by adding 1,50 euros will also get a month's Lebike subscription, with 3 euros, however, they will be able to use the two Bit Mobility sharing services, scooters and electric bicycles, for a monthly total of 120 minutes, with unlimited unlocks. With 4,50 euros you can use both electric scooters/bicycles (Bit Mobility) and muscle-powered bicycles (Lebike).
Greater discounts for those who benefit from discounted season tickets. A university student, for example, who pays 12 euros for a monthly TPL subscription, with just 1 euro more you will get a month's Lebike subscription, with 2 euros, however, you will be able to use scooters and electric bicycles, again for a monthly total of 120 minutes, with unlimited unlocks. If you want to use all available sharing services you will pay 3 euros more. Finally, for those entitled to free TPL service, the discount on sharing services reaches 95%.
To facilitate the use of the shared mobility service and make it even smarter, the integrated tickets (bus+sharing) will be available in digital format on the electronic sales platforms already active for the Public Transport, i.e. MooneyGo and DropTicket. The user will be able to choose online, in addition to the usual subscriptions to the Urban Public Transport service, also the new integrated bus+bike, bus+electric, or bus+bike+electric subscriptions. After payment, the platform will issue, in addition to the subscription to the Urban Public Transport service, an alphanumeric code for the activation of each of the sharing services chosen by the user, using the Weelo Apps of LeBike and BIT.
Detailed information on how to use the codes is already available on the SGM website at page.
And always on the SGM web portal, in the section “Timetables and Lines” will be visible, in addition to the Urban Public Transport stops, also the free floating electric sharing service areas and the bike stations available in the area. The user will therefore be able to organize travel by checking on the same map the availability of all the services that the Lecce Share project makes available.
«The integrated ticket is an innovative service much requested by citizens – said the councilor for Sustainable Mobility Marco De Matteis – and with Lecce Share we are implementing it with a view to a collective and shared transport mode. With the hope that this initiative can also be a stimulus to activate similar collaborations with other mobility companies that do not only operate in Lecce. This project allows us to also claim some actions as an Administration we have carried out with conviction in recent years: if today it is possible to make such an agreement, it is due to the fact that we were among the first to believe in micromobility, in flot-sharing ( scooters, bikes and electric scooters), and we wanted to restore the bikesharing stations in the city (the last three are missing). Furthermore, we are working on the integration of other services, including tourist ones, I am thinking of cargo bikes and hand bikes. These are the foundations we are laying for the future and for this reason we will not miss out on any financing calls. I thank Sgm and the partner companies Bit and Bicinincittà for joining and sharing the project."
«The intent of this project focused on shared mobility – underlined Francesco Cantobelli, sole director of SGM spa – is to encourage citizens to use private cars less and less in favor of sustainable mobility, offering, as in this case, alternative solutions for daily travel in the city. With this initiative we try to intercept as much as possible the collective needs of citizens who evaluate a route as "complete", when the "last metres" of a given journey, carried out with Public Transport, are covered by sharing services".
«Bit Mobility is honored to be able to collaborate with SGM – said Michela Crivellente, CEO of Bit Mobility – and the other operators of the project, promoted by the Ministry to achieve the aim of spreading the use of sharing mobility, which represents a sustainable and alternative mobility choice. The combination of the use of public transport and last mile vehicles such as scooters and bicycles fits perfectly with the reality of Lecce. In fact, it allows users to reach the bus stop using a green vehicle or renting it following use of the bus, to travel the last few meters and park it comfortably close to home."
«The integration between bike sharing and local public transport – highlighted Gianluca Pin, Bicincittà Italia sales manager – is an important strategy to promote sustainable mobility. We are certain that this partnership will be appreciated by the people of Lecce, who will be even more incentivized to choose flexible and sustainable modes of transport such as LeBike's shared bicycles and SGM's collective means of transport, to the detriment of private cars. Furthermore, we have made the experience of using bike sharing even smarter by focusing on the new Weelo app which, for the city of Lecce, is active from today, but has kept the rates unchanged and the first hour of use is always free".
