For this second edition of the event they went further 350 events scheduled, all free, including concerts, shows, dance, theater and circus arts, accompanied by thematic workshops, with particular attention to the peripheral areas of the city.
“We are particularly satisfied with the great public participation recorded at the events of the two Bari programme, which from June to September saw a great cultural revolution from the bottom – comments the Councilor for Culture Ines Pierucci -. The shows were the point of arrival of many workshops created with the inhabitants of all the neighborhoods that moved throughout the city, in some cases with a temporal contemporaneity that gave each day, to each of the neighborhoods, an opportunity to entertainment. I thank all the cultural operators who with professionalism and determination have animated the city with a program of the highest quality, transversal in genres and in territorial and temporal distribution. From families to the new generations, from tango enthusiasts to aerial dance, from rap music to the history of rock, from exceptional songwriting to circus theatre, we have addressed everyone, aware of how much the territorial and social distance can shorten if neighborhoods like Japigia, San Pio, Santo Spirito, San Girolamo, Carbonara, Loseto, Bari Vecchia, Libertà, Torre a Mare, are equal through culture understood as a service for the community. Overall, the Bari summer was characterized by a cultural program dedicated to great music with the Sea Festival, once again organized by artists and cultural operators from the city of Bari. Great success for the sixth edition of Bari Piano Festival, with the extraordinary interpreters of piano music, and for the Locus festival, with Robert Plant's concert which, attracting audiences from all over Europe and the United States, demonstrated how the cultural driver represents a resource for quality tourism in the our territory. This year too, Torre a mare was the stage for Bari in jazz and for the evenings of the Nino Rota award, conceived in this second mandate and now in its fifth edition, which this year recognized Teho Teardo and Valerio Daniele. The last events of this week of the program of the two Bari will ideally open the doors to the start of the prose season, in collaboration with RAI, with the homage to Italo Calvino on the centenary of his birth. Our hope is to have traced a path for the composition of the cultural offer in the city, a path made of comparison, collaboration, new protagonism of operators and attention to the entire city territory, giving continuity to events and festivals now highly anticipated by the public and also recognized outside regional borders".
