Success for the first of three days of "Let's clean the world", initiative promoted by Legambiente and organized by the Municipality with the collaboration of Abc. Yesterday morning's event began at Capoportiere, where the Environment Councilor Franco Addonizio, together with the environmental inspectors of the special company, provided instructions on the activities to be carried out. The volunteers then moved toarea adjacent to the Matropietro Canal, in Stella Maris, and with the cleaning kit they collected waste and then separated it. In the morning alone they are 835 kg of waste were collected and, as announced, the volunteers will also be at work on 27 and 28 October.
The event was attended by the Ecoschools, the three day centers of the Municipality of Latina, managed by the OSA cooperative and the Cintura d'Orione day center of Aprilia, as well as the Plastic Free and Circolo Arcobaleno Pontino Legambiente associations and the other bodies with which the Municipality shares the objectives, namely the South West Lazio Reclamation Consortium and the Latina ASL - Prevention Department - Active Prevention UOC.
"About 700 participants this morning – declared the Councilor for the Environment Franco Addonizio, present together with the municipal service officials -. A higher number of participants every year and testifies that the new generations are increasingly sensitive to the message that the initiative intends to send. Let's clean the world is, in fact, the most great environmental volunteering event in which the role of the municipalities is of fundamental importance for the success of the event, as representatives and direct promoters of good practices of active citizenship. I thank the volunteers who dedicated themselves this morning to freeing the environment from plastic and waste and who will also do so tomorrow and the day after in the areas surrounding the Canale delle Acque Mediae and the Ponte delle Comet. Their commitment will help return cleaner, welcoming and inclusive places to the community. The citizens who participated launched a message of high civic sense, an example also for adults. In fact, we decided to address the event in a particular way to the youngest because in them lies the guarantee for a better future, based on the concepts of environmental sustainability and respect for one's territory".
