Latina, 21st edition of the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition: wins the Swiss Tourism Awards.
The Municipality of Latina participated in the 21st edition of the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition which, in Lugano, presented to the Swiss public over 400 exhibitors from 60 countries, together with more than 100 hosted buyers.
As part of the event, the Municipality of Latina received the Swiss Tourism Awards recognition for "its extraordinary ability to combine history, culture and nature in a unique territory". Of the 400 exhibitors, 15 were awarded, three of which were Italian: the Municipality of Latina, the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Spoleto.
"Swiss Tourism Awards - he claims Councillor Franco Addonizio - is the prestigious recognition that certifies and enhances excellence in different contexts of tourism with a strong innovative vocation. We are therefore particularly proud of the award received by the Municipality of Latina thanks to the sustainable promotion of the territory. As part of the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition, the link between Latina and water was discussed, a primary element of our territory that has always been a critical issue and has become a resource, due to the presence of wetlands of high naturalistic interest, the Blue Flag beach, the presence of coastal lakes, the network of waterways, all precious elements that attract more and more visitors interested in sustainable tourism and who love to immerse themselves in nature through naturalistic exploration routes. This reality is demonstrated by some local associations that are committed to promoting and making the natural wealth of the Pontine territory accessible and alive, contributing to the promotion of a tourism that protects the environment and celebrates the particularities of the landscape and its deep connection with water. The associations Circe, Eco-house San Michele, Filibusta Pontina and the tourist guide Maurizia Moglioni with their initiatives support the Municipality in the promotion of Latina City of Waters, giving life to a network activity that brings together their proposals in the map of the Sentiero di Circe, a project also co-participated by the municipal administration. I thank the offices for the work done that led to obtaining the recognition and, in particular, Elisabetta Alfarano of the Environment service. The added value to the presence at the fair, together with the Municipality of Latina, was also represented by excellent sponsors of our territory such as Confagricoltura which made available the agri-food products of the major producers of the territory, obtained following a sustainable method, and by the Bassiano Reale Company known for its excellent prosciutto. The Swiss International Holiday Show was, for the Municipality of Latina present with a delegation and for the local companies that participated by exhibiting the products of our land, an opportunity - Addonizio concludes - which has allowed us to promote the territory we are proud of.”
