LAB – Laboratorio Adolescents Bari. The co-planning process of the new service promoted by the welfare department continues.

It was held this morning, at the LAB headquarters – Bari Adolescent Workshop, in via Capruzzi, the co-programming meeting organized by the municipal Welfare department to share proposals and project ideas in view of the imminent launch of this new space for listening, support, orientation, aggregation and active citizenship aimed at young people and to the girls of the city.

LAB, in fact, was born thanks to the joint commitment of the municipal Welfare department and UniCredit within a building of approximately 200mXNUMX, previously used to house a branch of the bank, which UniCredit has granted a free loan for use to the Municipality of Bari until 2027 so that it can be used for activities aimed at promoting the well-being of adolescents and young people.

The loan provides that the management of the property is entrusted to third sector entities: for this reason the Municipality of Bari, through the municipal anti-violence centre, has chosen the social cooperative Medihospes for the promotion of educational interventions, with a high social impact, also in networks with other organizations, aimed atsocial integration of adolescents, young adults and their families.

This morning's meeting was attended by representatives of various entities from the city's Welfare network, but not only, together with Welfare councilor Francesca Bottalico, who were interested in offering their contribution in terms of experience and planning: the first planned activities within LAB they concern branches university listening, off-site spaces, speaking groups for teenagers, workshops and role-playing afternoons, listening desks for young people and teenagers, events to combat gender violence and information on problems linked to eating disorders and mental health. Furthermore, training and work orientation activities.

"The enthusiasm that is driving the birth of LAB is extraordinary – comments the councilor Francesca Bottalico -, and expresses a bottom-up participation that involved young people, the university world, associations, third sector organizations and some businesses. An important indicator for a place that is preparing to become a center of creativity and support for teenagers, young people, away students and associations. We want Lab to become a new antenna ready to pick up local signals coming from the world of youth.

Participation is still open to further parties interested in being part of this journey: in the meeting on February 27th we will define the details of the LAB inauguration party".
