La Spezia Estate Festival: “Moby Dick” by Alessandro Preziosi to inaugurate the 2024 edition

It opens on Sunday 7 July at 21.30pm in the Entertainment Arena in Piazza Europa the fifth edition of the La Spezia Estate Festival.

To inaugurate the 2024 edition of the summer theater review will be Alessandro Preziosi with "Moby Dick", adaptation by Tommaso Mattei. Paky Di Maio's live electronics accompanied the actor's monologue.

The show is a PATO srl production e the event is organized in collaboration with “LET'S FREE YOURSELF”.

Moby Dick, one of the most timeless masterpieces of American and world literature, is the story of the irreducible Captain Ahab, engaged in the fatal white whale hunt, which has fascinated generations of readers, and continues to do so despite its venerable age. Written in 1851, was published in Italy for the first time in 1932, thanks to the wonderful translation by Cesare Pavese.

But Moby Dick risks appearing at first glance to be a dark and desperate book, the goal of monologue reading it is a journey to be followed with the spectator looking instead for a message of hope. The adaptation is thus entirely aimed at rediscovering that golden streak, luminous that flows beneath the surface of Melville's masterful work

The show by Alessandro Preziosi è punctuated in the soundtrack by Paky Di Maio's live electronics, oscillating continuously between the rereading of the memories of the shipwrecked Ishmael and the monologuing and obsessive interpretation of Captain Ahab, always touching on the tragic epilogue which only in the last lines reveals itself to be a message of hope.
