La Spezia, the new exhibition inaugurated at the Amedeo Lia Civic Museum.
Great success for the inauguration of the new exhibition of Amedeo Lia Civic Museum strongly desired by the Peracchini Administration on the occasion of Christmas “The angels wish to stare. The Nativity and the Adoration of the Shepherds and the Magi" edited by Andrea Marmori, open to visitors until March 24, 2024.
Over a hundred people yesterday admired the paintings on display whose title takes up the words of the First Letter of Peter of the New Testament, intending to focus on the salient moments of the coming of Christ, preceded by Advent, expressed through the figuration of the Nativity and of the Adorations of the shepherds and the magi. Thanks to the sequence of paintings selected for the exhibition, in dialogue with the figurative texts of the permanent collection, the three moments of the Birth, the Adoration of the shepherds and finally the Adoration of the Magi they illustrate the revelation to the world of salvation, an anticipation of the Redemption of humanity. In this sense, the exhibition, set up during the Christmas period, aims to be an opportunity to explore these themes, which are fundamental for the Christian West, whose iconographic declination demonstrates their permanence in the history of art.
The inauguration of the exhibition was also an opportunity to announce that the Crucifixion of Castelnuovo Magra by Pieter Brueghel the Younger from the Parish of Santa Maria Maddalena will remain at least until March 2024 on display at the Lia Museum, enhanced in a privileged display in the room of 17th century paintings in agreement with the ABAP Superintendence of Genoa and La Spezia.
Over the Christmas period, the current exhibition will be enriched with the following activities:
