International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, “If it hurts, it's not love”: the clip created by the young actors of 'Silvio d'Amico' with the Ministry of University and Research
Minister Bernini: “We need a cultural revolution. The University can have its role."
Love with its delicacy, passion and intimacy, sharing, playing, serenity. Then, a progressive and rapid change: love that becomes possession, offense, violence. Love that hurts. The love that is not love.
“Love is love” and “if it hurts it's not love”: is the message of the clip made on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the students of theNational Academy of Dramatic Arts 'Silvio d'Amico' of Rome on the initiative of the Ministry of University and Research.
A message addressed to everyone and in particular to university students, academies and music conservatories. A video that wants to talk about gender violence in an engaging way, representing emotions without comments other than that of the music. Emotions that only theater and art more generally can convey effectively.
The 'Silvio d'Amico' students chose to talk about personality changes, psychological and physical abuse, and the imbalance of power in some relationships. An invitation to catch in time the unmistakable signs of that violence that could even take your life.
“The last victim, Giulia, was killed on the eve of the thesis defense. A degree earned by a model student, explains Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of the MUR. The university world is not immune to gender violence and this gives us food for thought. We need a change that is a cultural revolution and the tool is education. In this the University can contribute to what I would like to call the normality of respect". Minister Bernini adds: “I thank the Academy for this beautiful video which entrusts us with an important message. A message aimed at women but at the same time at men".
The clip was created with scenes filmed during the various theatrical performances staged in recent years by the students of the 'Silvio d'Amico' Academy. The editing is by the videomaker Carlo Fabiano.
The 'Silvio d'Amico' National Academy of Dramatic Arts is one of the institutions of higher artistic, musical and dance education that fall under the Ministry of University and Research.
