In Lecco the Betrothed “Sottosopra” by Antonella Ciceri
From 6 to 22 October Villa Manzoni hosts the exhibition inspired by Manzoni's novel
In Lecco the Betrothed “Sottosopra” by Antonella Ciceri.
It will be inaugurated on Thursday 5 October at 18pm, at Villa Manzoni, in Lecco, the exhibition I Promessi Sposi “Sottosopra” by Antonella Ciceri.
The exhibition, set up on the occasion of 150th year since the death of Alessandro Manzoni and within the scope of the review “1873-2023 A city for Manzoni”, is promoted by the Municipality of Lecco through the Lecco Urban Museum System. The exhibition can be visited on Tuesdays from 10am to 14pm and from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 18pm with free access.
In the 12 works of the "I Promessi Sposi" series by Antonella Ciceri, born and raised in Lecco, and always fascinated by Manzoni's masterpiece, the characters of the novel are represented as allegorical figures which express the artistic and introspective vision of the author, straddling two worlds, the terrestrial and the aquatic, which find a line of union and inevitable interpenetration.
«An exhibition that finds space in the exhibition “1873-2023 A city for Manzoni” and which pays homage to the artistic experience of the painter Antonella Ciceri – underlines the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Lecco Simone Piazza -. This is, for visitors, the opportunity to discover an unusual Lecco and novel, given the reversal of a fundamental element of our territory, such as the water of the lake, and the revelation of peculiarities and characteristics of our landscape".
