Iglesias: XXVI International Chamber Music Festival
A December full of events at the Electra Theater in Iglesias: from "Tango nostalgia" with Fabio Furia and Marco Schirru to music for schools with "Junior Tango". The Festival continues with unique concerts and meetings, until December 28th.
Iglesias: XXVI International Chamber Music Festival.
The rich programming of the continues XXVI edition of the International Chamber Music Festival, chamber music review, organized by the Anton Stadler association with the artistic direction of the bandoneonist and composer Fabio Furìa and protagonist at the Electra theater in Iglesias from November 17 to December 28.
Appointment on December 8, when the bandoneonist and composer Fabio Furia with Marco Schirru on piano took to the stage of the Teatro Electra in Iglesias. The duo held a concert entitled “Tango nostalgia” with the performance of the most famous pieces by Astor Piazzolla, juxtaposing them with works by other composers united by a great love for Buenos Aires. Thus it was an innovative show, in which the dimensions of time and space bent until they met, leading the listener on an exciting and seductive journey from traditional Tango to the jazz and avant-garde influences of Astor Piazzolla and the original compositions of Fabio Furia. The sounds become poetry in a musical itinerary in which the refined compositional technique combines with the profound melodic sensitivity and passionate improvisation, in the executive virtuosity of an all-Italian formation.
The result was an interesting synthesis between the sound world of Jazz and that of Tango Nuevo. A blend of strength and passion, energy and pathos, in which classical suggestions are recognized, in the rigor of the composition inspired by the balance of form and counterpoint of the great masters of the past, but always keeping an eye on the contemporary avant-gardes. Not just music, therefore, but Art, in its broadest and most modern sense.
Furthermore, within the chamber music festival, three choral meetings belonging to the section “The Festival meets…” are scheduled for December. Also at the Electra Theatre on December 7th at 19 pm the first appointment with the concert “Autunno in…canto” by the Iglesias Choir, directed by Maestro Stefano Pisano, was held.
The Iglesias Choir was founded in 2006 by a group of friends who shared a passion for singing in the Sardinian language, through which it promotes its dissemination. The repertoire of the Iglesias Choir is mainly composed of “profane” songs but, thanks to the constant study and research of Maestro Stefano Pisano and the choristers, it has also been enriched with “sacred” songs performed in the Sardinian language and in Latin.
The Iglesias Choir has recorded two CDs with pieces from its repertoire, performed in numerous concerts held in Sardinia, in the rest of Italy and abroad and has been included in the encyclopedia of Sardinian folklore published by the Unione Sarda. The remarkable commitment of the choristers is supported by the passion and pride that comes from belonging to the Sardinian people and from the very strong bond with the beloved Sardinian land.
Mini Festival for Schools
Like every year, also this year, the International Chamber Music Festival, in order to spread musical culture among the youngest, aims to involve schools. After the great success of the first event on December 2nd, on the 9th at 10 am, sthe second and last one for this season will be held. “Junior Tango” will be a meeting with the ensemble formed by Leonardo Ferrari and Alessia Ibba (bandoneon) accompanied by Fabio Furia (bandoneon) and Maura Porru on piano.
