I-Fest International Film Festival: Best Original Screenplay Award to Short Film “Medley”

Alessandro D'Ambrosi and Santa de Santis wrote the screenplay and directed the film, made in collaboration with the State Police.

I-Fest International Film Festival: the award for Best Original Screenplay will be given to the short film “Medley”.

Saturday 14th September on the occasion of the'i-Fest International Film Festival, an international event that presents, with a careful eye towards the future, Cinema and New Technologies, will be Best Original Screenplay Award given to the short film “Medley” by Alessandro D'Ambrosi and Santa de Santis, who wrote the screenplay and directed it, made in collaboration with the State Police.

“Medley”, already in national preview at Shortfilm 2024, screened in Piazza del Popolo during the celebrations for the 172nd Anniversary of the foundation of the State Police and, recently, presented in a special event hosted by the Italian Pavillion on the occasion of the 81st Venice International Film Festival of the Venice Biennale, will receive the award in the wonderful setting of the Aragonese Castle of Castrovillari.

The short film narrates the casual meeting between Dario, a young policeman, and Mariano, an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer's. In this intense story, the two protagonists immerse themselves in their memories, offering a deep look at the power of imagination, empathy and listening.

The film explores the bond between these two men who, despite not being related, They find in their relationship a way to deal with losses and regrets, creating a new memory, a temporary illusion capable of to ease the pain of forgetfulness and loneliness.

Medley it's not just a short film, but also a message of solidarity and mutual support and emphasizes the human aspect of the policeman, highlighting the importance of closeness to those in difficulty and the social mission of the police force.

The artistic partnership between the two directors began in 2006. In 15 years they wrote and directed projects for theater, cinema and TV, with great success among critics and audiences. With their projects they have received more than 150 awards in national and international festivals to date. (among these we recall Best Film at Cortinametraggio 2017, Anec/Fice Award, finalists at the Nastri D'Argento and runners-up at the Globi D'Oro 2017).

D'Ambrosi and de Santis are currently completing post-production on their first feature film: “RIP”.

The artistic cast of “Medley” boasts the presence of actors of the caliber of Mariano Rigillo, Ruben Rigillo, Valerio Morigi, Anna Teresa Rossini and Silvia Siravo.

The short film was produced by Piuma Film and Vargo, with the support of Nuovo IMAIE, with Cortinametraggio and received the support of the State Police who wanted to use the short film, as an innovative and compelling cinematographic art form, to convey the values ​​of the Institution.
