Grosseto, the “Infinitely large, infinitely small” project meets autism.
Last Friday March 31st, the Grosseto University Centre hosted a training meeting that is part of the project “Infinitely large, infinitely small”, promoted by the Municipality of Grosseto, the Polo Universitario Grossetano Foundation and the Istituto Comprensivo Grosseto 2, in collaboration with the University of Siena.
On the occasion of the anniversary of World Autism Awareness Day, the project promoters organized a day of awareness for the children of the schools involved, focused on understanding autism through a scientific approach.
In addition to the small number of students, accompanied by their teachers, the Councilor for Education also participated Angela Amante, representing the municipal administration; the head teacher of IC Grosseto 2, Maria Teresa Sartiani and the president of the Grosseto University Centre, Gabriella Papponi Morelli.
In the morning, the children received t-shirts depicting infinity - symbol of World Autism Awareness Day - which they filled with the colors of the rainbow, to represent the diversity of the autism spectrum.
«Scientific research – comments the Education Councilor Angela Amante - it is fundamental to understand the causes that can generate autism, the possible therapeutic treatments for improvement and the social inclusion paths to undertake. Raising awareness and educating, from an early age, on correct knowledge of this disorder is important to avoid believing often inaccurate news».
