La IX edition of the Grand Tour Cultura, entitled 'Marche, Land of Theatres', will be held from November 1st to December 8th 2024 and will highlight the extraordinary network of theaters in the Marche. With over 180 events scheduled throughout the region, the initiative aims to rediscover one of the most precious cultural heritages of the region.

Promoted by the Department of Culture of the Marche Region and the Marche Cultura Foundation, in collaboration with MAB Marche, AMAT and Consorzio Marche Spettacolo, the event promotes the theatres of the Marche region as central places of regional culture and identity.

The Marche boasts 62 historic theatres built between 1600 and 1930, a unique heritage in Italy in terms of number and territorial spread. QThis edition of the Grand Tour Cultura is not limited to historic theatres: the entire theatre network of the region is on the move to tell not only about these architectural treasures, but also about lesser-known theatre spaces, modern or theatres that no longer exist, documented through photographs and historical testimonies.

From November 1st to December 8th, theaters, museums, archives, libraries and other cultural institutions of the Marche will be the protagonists of a rich and varied program.The calendar includes extraordinary openings of the theatres, guided tours of the historical curtains, performance events linked to the theatrical tradition, musical, theatrical and dance performances, presentations of archive documents, screenings and thematic exhibitions, to raise awareness of the immense cultural heritage of the region.

Among the novelties of this year, the opening to the public of the Teatro di Piticchio di Arcevia, one of the smallest private 19th century theatres in the Marche and probably in Italy, with a capacity limited to a few spectators. Furthermore, There will be behind-the-scenes visits and opportunities to discover the stories hidden within the sets, offering a complete path to explore the theatrical world of the Marche region.

Councillor for Culture Chiara Biondi underlined the importance of this edition of the Grand Tour Culture: “Marche, Land of Theatres is a focus that wants to celebrate one of the most precious heritages of our region: theatres. Through the Grand Tour Cultura 2024, we want to offer a fascinating journey to discover these extraordinary places, which represent not only beauty and tradition, but also a deep connection with our cultural identity. Every theatre has a story to tell and this year, with over 180 events, we invite everyone to discover it".

Andrea Agostini, President of the Marche Culture Foundation, he added: "This year's focus on Marche, Land of Theatres highlights the importance of an invaluable cultural heritage. Our theatres are not just buildings, but symbols of an identity that has endured over time and continues to evolve. Fondazione Marche Cultura is constantly committed to organizing and promoting a rich and participatory calendar, with over 180 events scheduled for this edition. We want to involve the public in a journey that crosses art, history and tradition, paying homage to the theatres and the communities that keep them alive".
