Genoa: the fourth edition of Alvi Trail Liguria, the ultra trail running race, was presented.
The fourth edition of was presented this morning in the Sala della Trasparenza Alvi Trail Liguria, the ultra trail running race that crosses the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri and the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre.
The competition, which will be held from 15 to 22 June 2024, aims to raise awareness and promote the Ligurian hinterland and its main features, including naturalistic, historical, artistic, cultural and food and wine beauties. The intent of the event is to affirm Liguria as an ideal destination for outdoor activities, such as mountain running, trekking and hiking, throughout the year.

The path of the Alvi Trail Liguria 2024 it crosses the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri and the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre, covering a distance of 440 km divided into 8 stages, with a positive difference in altitude of 18.600 metres.
The race develops through varied and fascinating environments and landscapes, crossing five regional natural parks, all four Ligurian provinces and 72 municipalities. The athletes will stop in base camps provided by the host municipalities, where they will have dinner with typical local cuisine and spend the night before leaving for the next stage.
In detail, these are the stages of the 2024 edition:
- Stage 1: 15 June – Rocchetta Nervina – Mendatica
- Stage 2: 16 June – Mendatica – Calizzano
- Stage 3: 17 June – Calizzano – Altare
- Stage 4: 18 June – Altare – Arenzano
- Stage 5: 19 June – Arenzano – Sant'Olcese
- Stage 6: 20 June – Sant'Olcese – Rezzoaglio (Ventarola Refuge)
- Stage 7: June 21st – Rezzoaglio – Castiglione Chiavarese
- Stage 8: June 22nd – Castiglione Chiavarese – Portovenere
In addition to the main Ultra 440K race, the program includes two other 220km races, the West 220K (first 4 stages) and the East 220K (last 4 stages).
In addition, the SEA 50K competition (8th and final stage) from Castiglione Chiavarese to Portovenere will be repeated to encourage wider participation.
The event is organized by Alvi Trail Liguria ASD, an association affiliated with UISP (Italian Union of Sport for All) and ITRA (International Trail Running Association).
The project is realized with the patronage of the Liguria Region, the provinces of Imperia, La Spezia and Savona, the Metropolitan City of Genoa, the Ligurian Alps Park, the Beigua Park, the Municipalities of Rocchetta Nervina, Mendatica, Calizzano, Altare, Arenzano, Sant'Olcese, Rezzoaglio, Castiglione Chiavarese and Portovenere, and the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa.
Numerous local sports and non-sports associations, hoteliers and refuges along the route are actively involved in the realization of the event, together with important partners such as the CAI Liguria, the FIE Liguria and the ANPAS, which takes care of medical-health assistance during the race, the Consortium for the Protection of Riviera Ligure DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the Consortium for the Protection of Genoese Basil DOP, the Regional Wine Shop of Liguria, the Raffaelli Meteorological Observatory, the Bric Guana Naturalistic Observatory, AIGAE Italian Association of Environmental Hiking Guides, AGAEL Association of Environmental Hiking Guides of Liguria, the Scarponi Group, GES Savona Hikers Group, the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri Hospitality Reception Network, the I Nuovi Garuli Cultural Association, the Missano Rural Consortium.
For the 2024 edition, around 500 volunteers are expected to participate, actively involving local communities and associations in the management and promotion of the event.
