University Scholarships Increase provided by Aliseo for the academic year 2024/2025. The final ranking of the competition sees 4.085 Scholarship Winners, with an increase of 465 students compared to the previous academic year (12,85% more).
The competition announcement, issued during the summer, required a merit requirement for the submission of the application (a number of credits increasing according to the year of attendance) and an income requirement, with a university ISEE limit of 27.726 euros and an ISPEU limit (Equivalent Asset Situation Indicator) of 60.275 euros, or the maximum limits provided by national legislation. 96% of the scholarship winners are enrolled at the University of Genoa, while the remaining winning students are enrolled at the Institutes of Higher Artistic, Musical and Choreographic Education of Liguria (4%).
The data shows that 52,95% of the total beneficiaries are freshmen: students in the first years of the three-year degree course and in the first years of the master's degree course. Non-EU students who are beneficiaries of the scholarship are 50,21% of the total. Among foreign students, the Iranian community is the most present (15% of the winners), followed by Pakistani students (8%) and Ethiopians (5%).
39% of Unige scholarship winners attend the Faculty of Engineering, followed by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (12%) and Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences (10%). 47% of the scholarship winners are Italian, of which 73% are from Liguria and 8% from Piedmont.
The scholarship winners are 20% resident students, i.e. students resident in the municipality where they attend their university courses, and 25% commuter students, i.e. students resident in municipalities bordering those where they attend their university courses. for 55% out-of-town students, that is, students residing in municipalities far from those where they attend university courses (this group includes non-EU students).
With the increase in the value of scholarships and the eligibility requirements relating to economic conditions resulting from Ministerial Decree 1320/2021 and subsequent adjustments to the ISTAT index, the theoretical commitment of scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025 will be over 16 million. These funds derive from the proceeds of the regional tax for the Right to University Study, from the State Supplementary Fund of the Ministry of University and Research and from the Pnrr, with an increase in resources of 3 billion euros compared to the period 2023/24.
All students who win the competition are entitled to a scholarship paid partly in cash and partly in economic form in services (accommodation and catering); They also benefit from the exemption from the regional tax for the right to study and from the university fee contributions for attending courses at the University of Genoa. The amount of the scholarship awarded varies from a minimum of just over 1.400 euros for the resident student (in addition to a free daily meal) to a maximum of just over 7 thousand euros for the non-resident student (including accommodation and catering service), based on the student's economic income and city of residence.
