After the triumph at the Rome Film Festival, where it was presented in a special screening, and the boom in cinemas, where it reached record numbers with over 80 thousand spectators in its programming days (6, 7 and 8 November with reprise on 12 and 13 December) ME, US AND GABER, the docufilm about Mr. G written and directed by Riccardo Milani, consecrated the most watched event film of 2023, arrives on TV on Monday January 1st in prime time at 21.20pm on Rai 3.

An unmissable great television event to start the new year in the company of the free genius of Giorgio Gaber, at the center of one of the most precious pages in the cultural history of our country, precisely on the anniversary of his death. The television broadcast of the docufilm - produced by Atomic in co-production with RAI Documentaries and LIGHT CINECITTÀ – represents another important stage in the journey of IO, NOI E GABER, the perfect epilogue of the initiatives carried out by the Foundation to crown this last year (the twentieth anniversary) of celebrations, of which Milani's film is the beating heart.

Shot between Milano and Viareggio, in the places of the life of Giorgio Gaber, I, WE AND GABER is the more lively and incisive portrait of Mr. G than ever. An exclusive journey that passes through all the phases of his artistic career: from the very beginning in the clubs of Milano to rock with Adriano Celentano, from the artistic and personal partnership with his friend Jannacci to the iconic duets with Mina and the songs with Maria Monti. From the years of television popularity to the theatre, with the invention, together with Sandro Luporini, of the Teatro Canzone, a full expression of his political and cultural commitment. In the background, like the locus amoenus that moves everything and in which everything converges, stands the Teatro Lirico of

Milano, symbol of the mutual love between Gaber and the Milanese public, and which today bears his name, Giorgio Gaber Lyric Theatre.

I, WE AND GABER restores to the public the still alive and relevant personality of Mr. G, shining a spotlight on the importance of the music, thought and unforgettable words of one of the most important artists and intellectuals of our century. Through the voices of family and friends, Riccardo Milani traces an intimate and passionate portrait of Gaber, which includes at the same time his personal story - through the words of his daughter Dalia and the people historically closest to him - and a symphony of voices of colleagues and artists who lived and loved it.
