Lakes Festival: “Mistero Buffo” by Dario Fo and Franca Rame performed by Mario Pirovano.
Stresa,”Funny Mystery”, the most famous show by Dario Fo and Franca Rame, played by their heir Mario Pirovano, next Saturday, September 23th disembarks, a Stresa in the context of XNUMXth edition of the Lakes Festival.
Exhilarating, provocative, powerful, timely, epic, masterful”Funny Mystery 50″, The show, produced by Fo Rame Theater Company and sponsored by the Fo Rame Foundation, was staged in a new form in 2019 to celebrate fifty years since the first performance of Funny Mystery. Performed for the first time in May of 1969 and repeated, to this day, in over five thousand stagings, each time enriched by new jesters, it is a masterpiece that has marked the history of the twentieth century.
An extraordinary comic-dramatic mixture, staged in Italy and abroad, in squares, in schools, in factories, in theaters and even in churches, whose roots lie in popular theatre, that of medieval sacred representations, of jesters and Commedia dell'Arte. Dario Fo and Franca Rame collected for years oral tales, legends and documents of popular theater of various Italian regions and then re-present them in this hilarious show. The monologues, highly provocative, have an ironic and prophetic flavour, which amuses, stimulates and fascinates.
Mistero Buffo is a show that has the ability to involve everyone, even the younger generations. The jesters, in fact, deal with ever-current themes: power, injustice, hunger, rebellion, the search for a worthy life to share joyfully. THE continuous reminders of current events, which frame the various songs, reveal the present with its false naivety and hypocrisies, giving the public many moments of reflection but also of uncontainable comedy. The songs are recited in a language that combines different dialects of northern and central Italy: a perfectly understandable language, thanks to the powerful gestures of Mario Pirovano, which the same Fo he defined "very talented fabulator”.
Mario Pirovano, 1950 class, in 1983 meets Dario Fo and Franca Rame. He permanently joins their company where he carries out the duties of translator, extra, assistant electrician, assistant stagehand, responsible for the distribution of editorial material, stage manager, assistant director, following the two actors also in the international tours. He thus finds himself in a privileged position, like an artist who learns the craft directly in one Renaissance workshop: from the writing of the texts to the first reading with the actors, to the rehearsals on the stage, to the continuous changes of the work as it develops.
The event will be at 21pm, Stresa Congress Palace. Entrance is free.
