Drive in at the Monza Autodromo

Great success for the drive-in at the Autodromo which debuted with the classic "Grease" and which will continue next weekend in the Paddock 2 area transformed into a huge 8.700 square meter cinema under the stars. Nine screenings from Friday to Sunday evening, from great classics to musicals to animated films. «Cinema, cars and Autodromo are the mix of the success of this project – said the Mayor Dario Allevi – The drive-in is a sentimental, emotional fact, but this project is also concrete: it is a driving force for the cinema sector, waiting of the reopening of theaters in the autumn, and support for our businesses that have suffered closures to contain the health emergency. And it is the tool to get people back to experiencing moments of sociality, culture and fun with all the precautions and all possible guarantees of distancing." In short, comfortably seated in your car, in complete safety, you will be able to relive the magical atmosphere of the fifties, when drive-ins spread in America and became a real social phenomenon: in 1958 there were 4063. Every evening will be able to host up to 50 cars. It will be possible to watch the film, on a 22 square meter LED wall screen (3 meters high and 7 and a half meters wide) with frontal audio and further lateral references, even outside your car on the deckchairs that will be available in the assigned area. Spectators, after measuring their body temperature, will be able to access the area starting from 20pm while the screening will start at 21.30pm. The film can also be combined with dinner: inside the event area there will be a food & beverage service with a special menu. The public will also be able to book in advance online a rich aperitif or dinner served in the Eatstop restaurant-bistro inside the Autodromo. «Innovation was the watchword behind this project», explains the Councilor for Culture Massimiliano Longo. «We needed to invent something new to give many families the opportunity to leave home, after the long lockdown, and find a bit of escape in a safe environment. A breath of fresh air. Drive-ins come from the past, but they seem to have been made especially for a global pandemic like the one we are experiencing."
