DONARTE 2023: the noble gesture of organ donation told through science and art.
Messina, ended yesterday, Sunday, October 1, the second edition of Donarte. The II International Conference which saw the municipality of Messina together with Anesthesia and Resuscitation Service Operational Units with TIntensive therapy of the AOU “G. Martin" of Messina, engaged in a social awareness campaign on the topic of organ and tissue donation.
The initiative, promoted byItalian Donation Institute (IID) e sponsored by ANCI, the Municipality of Messina has joined with Council resolution, as concrete evidence of the attention paid to an important topic.
Indeed, the event DONATE was included in the project “InStradaME“, strongly supported by the municipal administration, aimed at promotion, prevention and fight against road accidents.
“A significant event – commented the mayor Federico Basile - to reflect on the importance of life and how to protect it, but also to think about the importance of the gift, because donating to others through our organs means rekindling the life of those in need".
“A synergy developed with the University and AOU G. Martino to work online – added the councilor Alessandra Calafiore - with the aim of developing an adequate social awareness campaign".
The event program, which started last year Friday September 29, with a meeting organized in Zanca palace, it was an occasion thanks to the presence of 3D simulators developed byUniversity of Messina to spread awareness of the risks and teach people what it means to drive while intoxicated. A theme, that of road accident prevention, on which to turn the spotlight also by addressing topics related to emergency emergencies and the management of the care path of a potential organ donor.
Saturday 30 September, on the occasion of DONARTE Grand Gala 2023, held at Palaculture, There were numerous testimonies that followed before the awards ceremony Call for Art.
The winners were:
Pictorial works section: Regeneration by Sebastiano Miduri, award in memory of Gaetano Alessandro, presented by his sister Anna Alessandro;
Sculptural works section: Sun rising in a bowl by Iolanda Russo Menna, award in memory of Rukmani Devi Gupta, presented by her son, prof. Deepak Gupta;
Photography Section: Donate an act of the heart by Grazia Teresa Fresco, prize in memory of the prof. Angelo Ugo Sinardi, delivered by his family;
Adult fiction section: A story of resilience by Nada Mohamed Saad, award in memory of Nicholas Green, presented by prof. Franco Servadei, past President of the World Federation of Neurological Societies;
Poetry section for adults: You were spring flower by Carmela Anna Rossello, award in memory of Rolly Prajapati, presented by prof. Sunil Shroff, President of Mohan Foundation India.
Jury members: Giuseppe Giordano, Caterina Di Giacomo, Richard B. Woodward, Simone Caliò (figurative arts), Maria Florinda Minniti, Maria Francesca Tommasini, Flavia Vizzari (literary works).
