Mayor Ghinelli at the Jewish Cemetery: "A dutiful memory as a perennial warning for humanity"
Remembrance Day, the delegation of the Municipality of Arezzo was present in Oświęcim
Together with the civil and military authorities, Mayor Alessandro Ghinelli laid a wreath this morning at the Jewish Cemetery in Ducci Park to celebrate the Memorial Day. “Today, more than ever, it is necessary to remember the Holocaust, the immense massacre committed against the Jewish people last century, at a time when the Middle East is once again bloodied by a war that dramatically reopens a wound never healed. Being here testifies not only to the desire to keep the memory alive, but also to the categorical and definitive rejection of any thought that denies the dignity of human beings."
To represent Arezzo in the twin city of Oświęcim, on the occasion of the ceremonies for the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz – Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army, the delegation made up of the deputy mayor Lucia Tanti and the councilor Valentina Sileno, who laid a bouquet of flowers in memory of the victims of the Shoah and took part in all the commemorative moments included in the day's program.
