Da Milano in Genoa: a journey through history with the Arlecchino train

Lombardy region, together with the Foundation FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) and in collaboration with the Lombardi nel mondo association, promotes a special day on board the historic Arlecchino train.

Sunday July 14th (and replies the 3 November), the famous rapid will depart from the Central Station of Milano pm 9.25, destination the Museum of Italian Emigration (MEI) a Genova. The first time that the Lombardy Region organizes an inter-regional historic train.

This event celebrates the anniversary of the birth of Francesca Cabrini, born 15 July 1850, proclaimed saint in 1946 e Patron saint of emigrants. The tourist trip, which combines the Lombardy capital in Genoa, offer not just a unique experience on board a historic train, but also aopportunity to reflect on the contribution of Italian emigrants and on the figure of the Saint.

In conjunction with the celebrations of Santa Francesca Cabrini, the Arlecchino tra Milano and Genoa becomes a formidable driving force for a message of peace that can involve the entire world. From the pleasure trip, to the promotion of routes and projects related to sustainable mobility, with a high attractive and touristic impact, thanks to the collaboration between the Lombardy Region and the FS Foundation, this train pays homage to the memory of Italian migrants who with commitment and sacrifice have tried to give a better future to their children. A lesson that we must not forget”.

The Harlequin train, known for its iconic design and the comfort offered to travellers, represents a piece of history of Italian rail transport. Passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy a fascinating journey through the picturesque landscapes of Lombardy and Liguria, culminating with a visit to the MEI in Genoa, a place dedicated to the memory and celebration of Italian emigration.
