A film set in the Langhe is coming to Cinema Monviso; it is “Trifole – Le radici dimenticate”. A story of rediscovering the deepest values.
The film “Trifole – Le radici dimenticate” will be released in cinemas on Thursday 17 October. This is a gripping story of rediscovering the deepest values, set in the Langhe. The Monviso Cinema he didn't miss the opportunity and included the film, directed by the young Milanese director Gabriele Fabbro, in the weekly schedule (from Thursday 17th to Tuesday 22nd October, always at 21pm, with the addition of the 18.30pm show on Sunday 20th).
Graduated in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, Gabriel Smith He has written and directed over 30 productions including feature films, short films, music videos and commercials and was named by MovieMaker Magazine as a “Screenwriter to Watch” in 2022. In recent days, regarding his latest work, he declared to Ansa: “As a director and screenwriter, my goal is to bring to the cinema small original stories of people on the margins, of Italian communities and traditions that are disappearing. I want to present them to audiences around the world in a magical way, to make them passionate about these realities”.
“Trifole – Le radici dimenticate” has been selected for the Palm Springs Film Festival scheduled for next January in California. A prestigious recognition, which will certainly contribute to strengthening the image of the territory and products of the Langhe in the USA.
The plot
Dalia, a girl who grew up in London with no motivation or expectations for the future, is sent by her mother to take care of her grandfather Igor in a small village in the Langhe, with the hope that rural life will help the young girl find her way. Upon arrival, Dalia discovers that her grandfather, whose health is deteriorating day by day due to senile dementia, has received an eviction notice due to the expansion of local wineries, who hope to take over the land once intended for truffle hunters.
In order to quickly find enough money to pay for the house and avoid eviction, Igor decides to share the truffle hunters' secrets with his niece and send her into the woods together with her dog Birba, in search of a large white Alba truffle, in order to save their house with its commercial value.
