An event that was held after the stop imposed by the pandemic and whose return was greeted with particular enthusiasm and participation.
Crotone: The cultural events of the Marian Month of May 1st with the traditional "Lampadedromia".
Starting from the Sanctuary of Capocolonna, the event, promoted by the Pastoral of Sports and the US Acli Crotone Provincial Committee, saw the torch race, the historic Olympic torch of 1960, wind through the city streets, passing through the parishes and arriving at the Cathedral where it was turning on the lamp at the foot of the painting of the Madonna di Capo Colonna.
The event takes up a tradition ofAncient Greece, where exactly “lampadedromie” they were held in the hands of athletes during running races.
One of the "torchbearers" was the councilor Giovanni Greco. The president of the III Council Commission Antonella Passalacqua participated in the ceremony and highlighted the suggestion of the event which highlights the values of friendship and equality, as well as sport.
