Catania, “Corti in Cortile” short film festival: everything is ready for the fifteenth edition
The first Film Market open to young filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts
Catania, “Corti in Cortile” short film festival: everything is ready for the fifteenth edition.
An even richer XV edition for “Shorts in the Courtyard, Cinema in brief”, the historic festival dedicated to Italian and international short films to be held in the Palazzo della Cultura in Catania from 15th to 17th September.
The Film Market is the important novelty of the event, included within the Catania Summer Fest promoted by the mayor Henry Trantino and organized by the Cultural Association Vision Art (artistic director David Catalano) and by the Municipality, with the Culture Directorate and the Catania Film Commission.
Production companies, distributors, film-makers, Sicilian film commissions, European financing consultants and film tourism and location experts will be the protagonists of the new space “Film Market”, a networking and meeting center set up on the charming terrace of Palazzo Platamone, in the “Corti in Cortile” area called “Spazio Franco Tomaselli”.
Production and post-production, the legislation that regulates logistical aspects, copyright or the methods of obtaining and using community funds, but also film tourism and distribution: the festival aims to create a place which, in the wake of European Film Market in Berlin, represents a precious opportunity in the panorama of Italian film festivals to bring film-makers, producers and the entire chain of subjects involved in the creative and production process into contact and interaction, with the presence of some of the most authoritative interlocutors in the sector ready to provide clarifications and information.
The project on the Catania Film Market, supported by the Culture direction governed by Paolo Di Caro, was developed during some technical discussions coordinated by the head of the Catania Film Commission, Sabina Murabito (who is also among the members of the prestigious jury of “Corti in Cortile”), and by the artistic director and creator of the festival, David Catalano.
“A shared proposal – emphasizes the Catania Film Commission -, which falls within the scope of the development and promotion of culture, art and cinema, especially among young people, which the Administration led by Mayor Trantino is carrying out. We are focusing in particular on the involvement of local professionals and cultural operators, with a project that plans to offer them the opportunity to compare and get involved not only outside the island, and for this a particular thank you goes to the Sicilia Film Commission".
«The Film Market – explains the artistic director David Catalano - it wants to establish itself as a point of reference for all Sicilian cinematographic realities. We hope that it is the beginning of a tradition, which promises to involve the whole of Southern Italy starting next year.".
Among the members, in addition to the Catania Film Commission, are the production companies Wildside (Claudio Falconi) e Cinemaset (Antonio Chiaramonte), Prof. Enrico DG Nicosia, expert in film tourism, Tiziana Falsaperla, Judge at the I section. civil of the Court of Catania, expert in copyright of cinematographic works and the lawyer. Riccardo Trovato, expert in legal assistance for film productions and the main parties involved.
