Carnival in Vicenza, parade of allegorical floats in Viale Roma

There's a week to go carnival party which will liven up Viale Roma with a parade of large allegorical floats, 10 to 15 meters high, which will involve and excite the public.

On Wednesday 7 February at 17pm the floats, all illuminated, will travel along the avenue that crosses Campo Marzo in an atmosphere of celebration and fun with the Vivaldi band from Venice, the majorettes from Caltrano, the music of Radio Bruno, over 200 participants and the free style quad performance by the MDSS aerobatic team. Food trucks will be available along the route. It will be a great party for everyone, and in especially for children and families, organized by the Municipality of Vicenza - department of major events - with Eventi 2000, with the collaboration of the Vicenza è Consortium. The Carnival in Vicenza is possible thanks to the support of BCC Verona and Vicenza and Esselunga.

The procession will leave at 17pm from viale Dalmazia, to Campo Marzo, where the wagons will arrive in the morning to carry out the set-up operations. They will then travel along Viale Roma towards Piazzale De Gasperi and then reverse direction and head towards the train station. The parade will be opened by free style performances by the MDSS acrobatic team on quads. The event will be accompanied by the music of the Vivaldi band from Venice and the majorettes from Caltrano. One at a time the floats will stop in front of the stage set up in Viale Roma where each float accompanied by the procession of figures will perform a performance lasting a few minutes.

Here the councilor for major events Leone Zilio will present them with a plaque. The party will then continue with Radio Bruno DJs who will make the audience dance (to listen Radio Bruno in Vicenza, Venice, Treviso, Padua, Vicenza and Rovigo the frequency is 92.400 MHz). In Viale Roma there will be some food trucks to refresh yourself with food and drinks.

Before the start of the parade, at 16pm, the Caltrano majorettes accompanied by the Vivaldi band of Venice, will walk along Corso Palladio up to Piazza dei Signori and then return to viale Roma.

The largest 15 meter high float is dedicated to “The courage to dream”, the 10 meter high one is entitled “Go where music takes you”, the 7 meter one, “Venice magic destination”. “The Tropical Era” and “Take Me Where There's No Use in Dreaming” are 8 meters tall. An additional "Lights and Shadows" float will take part in the parade.

In case of bad weather the parade will be postponed to Saturday March 9 at 17.30

The carnival program also includes other scheduled initiatives between the 9 and the 14 February. The economic development department proposes, at the request of local associations, some events.

On Friday 9 February from 17pm to 19pm the Center's showcases will bring Venetian masks to the historic center and on 10 February Dr. Smile with his cheerful ambulance; together with the Pandora association they organize the mask parade in Piazza dei Signori, from 15.30 pm, of which he will be the leader a large 2 meter dinosaur.

At the end of the parade in the Captaincy lodge, an award ceremony will be held at 16.30 pm for the most imaginative costumes and the smallest costume dress. For everyone, sealed candies, confetti and streamers. The prizes will be donated by some associated merchants from the windows of the historic center.

Furthermore, Pandora will set up the exhibition market on Saturday 10 February from 10am to 19pm in the Bissari court and in Piazza dei Signori towards the office building. “The Carnival of the little ones and the Valentine's Day of the adults”. (For Valentine's Day, shop windows in the center will decorate the windows of commercial activities with red hearts. A large bright red heart will arrive in Piazza dei Signori). The event also includes a workshop to make a cardboard mask and streamers and confetti will be on sale so everyone can party together. In Piazza dei Signori, towards the columns of the square, the little ones will be able to participate in the Bimbility dog ​​course with the dog expert Francesca Bonato who teaches children in a dynamic way to establish a relationship of trust with the dog while having fun.

On Sunday 11 February, as part of the usual edition of the antiques market, Non ho l'età offers a free visit to the ethnographic collections “The mask in non-European art” at the Diocesan Museum: there are two scheduled shifts, at 10 and 11. Tuesday 13 February, from 15pm to 17pm, Pandora and the Vetrine in the center offer the traveling show Teatro Kamishibai by bicycle curated by Paola Ruffo.

The Carnival also collaborates Section 1 Historic Center Confcommercio which offers, on Saturday 10 February, in the afternoon, itinerant street artists and a masked parade through the main streets of the centre.

Finally, the culture department organizes special entertainment for primary school children (6-11 years) during the Carnival holidays. They will be welcomed, from 8am to 16pm, on 12 February at the Diocesan Museum, on 13 February at the Civic Museum of Palazzo Chiericati and on 14 February at the Jewelery Museum.
