“An Italian journey that today becomes a Calabrian journey – says the councilor with responsibility for Tourism Giovanni calabrese – An initiative promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, a journey through the Italian regions thanks to which the gastronomy of our country is promoted, a candidate to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“Aromi d'Italia” Italian journey – discover the Italy you didn't know is a Ministry of Tourism project made possible in Calabria with the collaboration of the Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Mobility department of the Calabria Region.
"Bergamot was chosen as the aroma because it is very distinctive. From the point of view of food and wine, the choice fell on nduja, a cured meat appreciated throughout the world. The project of the Ministry of Tourism sees the Tuscany Region as the leader, together with “Toscana promozione” which involved the department in this initiative. We were enthusiastic to participate and we chose to invite influencers and journalists to Locride, an area rich in beauty and historical testimonies”.
To represent “Tuscany promotion”, Mauro Carbone: “the project of the Ministry of Tourism is coordinated by the Tuscany Region and “Toscana promozione” which has selected and now brings around Italy the aromas and scents of Italian cuisine. It is a key to understanding olfactory marketing. For each region, a characterising scent was chosen, presented on the restaurant bus, with a stop in each region for an Italian map that has the sense of smell as its common thread.".
The day began at the Archaeological Park Antica Kaulon in Monasterace and continued and ended at the Archaeological Park of Locri Epizefiri.
The director of the Locri Epizefiri Park, Elena Triumph, and the director of the Ancient Kaulon Archaeological Park, Elisa Nisticò, thanks to their passion, accompanied those present into the ancient world, making them discover the life of the past and the many unique testimonies still available in the area.
On the way to Locri with the latest generation restaurant bus, equipped with all comforts, Mauro Carbone He “challenged” those present with an olfactory kit with aromatic evocations of each regional perfume to understand which aroma it was.
Regional aroma that has had its peak moment with the tasting of the two dishes designed for the occasion: Aspromonte black pork fillet with chicory, pumpkin, potato and mushroom tart and nduja reduction and dessert: licorice ice cream and bergamot mousse. Made by the chefs of the Italian Federation of Chefs, Reggio Calabria section: Giuseppe Spadaro, Carmine Cataldo and Domenico Pugliese, supported in the service by Fabio Bava.
Present for the municipality of Locri the Councilor for Culture Sunday Bumbaca, the councilor for tourism Ornella Monteleone, the councilor for agricultural activities Joseph Arone, the councillors Roberta Rupo, Giovanni Puro, Jessica Romeo. For the municipality of Monasterace the councilor Gabriella Pisano ed Emmanuel Papaleo delegate for Culture and the group leader in the municipal council Marcello Bova.
The intense program concluded in the sacred area of the Thesmophorion with the performance of the narrator Daniel Cundari who interpreted the Homeric hymn to Demeter.
