Cagliari: The “FEMINAS” 2024 exhibition is underway, proposals by November 12
“FEMINAS. Cagliari against violence” returns, 2024 edition, the initiative sponsored by the Municipality of Cagliari, which saw the Department of Equal Opportunities work together with the Permanent Council Commission for Equal Opportunities, chaired by Chiara Cocco, in choosing the title of the review “Bodies and Words”, and in defining the event programs.
Proposals from interested parties, who are committed to valorizing differences as a primary prevention tool for violence, must be submitted by 18:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established in December 1999 by the United Nations General Assembly and set every 25th November, the Municipal Administration of Cagliari – also this year – is committed to promoting activities aimed at raising public awareness on the issue of gender violence, specifically violence against women, and with a recent resolution approves “FEMINAS. Cagliari against violence. Bodies and words”.
“This year's edition is the result of teamwork between the Department and the Commission, which were immediately engaged in defining the identity to be given to the initiative”, declared Giulia Andreozzi, Councilor for Public Education, Support for Study and Knowledge, with responsibility for Equal Opportunities, of the Municipality of Cagliari.
“FEMINAS” was in fact born with the aim of promoting, during the month of November, especially in the week of November 25, a calendar of free events, through a public call to the social and cultural entities operating in the area, aimed at carrying out activities aimed at involving citizens in the fight against gender-related discrimination, with specific regard to violence against women, with the aim of starting a long-lasting path, which will last until March 8th.
Chiara Cocco, city councilor and president of the Permanent Council Commission for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Cagliari, confirmed that "the presence of the Administration in the fight against gender violence is fundamental, as is the collaboration with the various entities of civil society that work daily for and with the citizens". She also specified that "The 'FEMINAS' calendar focuses on ways of being together in different contexts and on raising awareness of gender violence, addressed as a socio-cultural phenomenon".
Further information on the participation methods is available in the Public Notice on the institutional portal of the Municipality of Cagliari.
