Cagliari, the “Information system for the management of minors in the community” presented: an innovative project for the protection of minors in Sardinia

The "Information system for the management of minors in the community", a strategic project of the Sardinia Region in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Cagliari, was presented in two important events, the first on November 26 in Cagliari and the second on December 5 in Sassari.

The "Information system for the management of minors in the community“, a strategic project of the Region in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Cagliari, It was presented in two important events, the first, last November 26th in the “Mario Carta” lecture hall of the University of Cagliari and the second, on December 5th in the lecture hall of the University of Sassari.

The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor's Offices at the Juvenile Courts of Cagliari and Sassari, represents a decisive step towards the complete adoption of the system by the institutions and subjects involved in the management of minors in the community.

In Cagliari, the proceedings were opened by the university's vice-rector, Gianni Fenu, who underlined the crucial role of synergy between institutions to effectively address social issues of great impact. The general director of IT Innovation and Security, Marco Melis, and the manager Mattia Spiga illustrated the technical parts of the software, providing an overview of its functions. Similarly, in Sassari, the system was explored in depth by Mattia Spiga, in an initiative introduced by the magnificent rector of Sassari Gavino Mariotti which highlighted the importance of inter-institutional projects like this one to ensure operational and efficient solutions to community needs.

These information days they were strongly desired by the Councilor for General Affairs, Personnel and Reform of the Region, Mariaelena Motzo, together with Anna Cau, Public Prosecutor at the Juvenile Court of Cagliari. Both reiterated the strategic importance of the project, defining it as an innovative model to guarantee the protection of minors and improve the reception and management processes in regional community structures.

Cau, promoter and inspirer of the project, illustrated in Cagliari the motivations behind the development of the information system, underlining the primary objective: strengthen collaboration between all actors involved in child protection and improve the effectiveness of interventions. His presentation, enriched by a practical demonstration of the system's features, showed how this digital platform allows for complete tracking of the minor's path, from the initial census to the foster care project or placement in a community.

In Sassari, Luisella Paola Fenu, Public Prosecutor at the local Juvenile Court, underlined the importance of implementing the information system also in the territory that pertains to the Juvenile Court of Sassari, highlighting the value of collaboration between institutions, local administrations and community structures to improve the protection of minors.

The councilor for hygiene, health and social assistance, Armando Bartolazzi, highlighted how the model proposed for the Sardinian territory represents a virtuous example which could be replicated on a national scale, offering an innovative and structured solution for the management of minors in communities.

The information system, already tested since 2021, represents a single digital access point for the integrated and transparent management of minors in the community, promoting collaboration between social services, health companies, juvenile justice centers and prosecutors.
Thanks to a recent resolution adopted by the Regional Council, the system will soon be operational throughout the region: over 200 mayors, present or connected online, attended the presentation of a project that stands as an innovative element in the national panorama.

The information system represents tangible proof of our commitment to a modern and synergic approach to the protection of minors. “This project - he stressed Councilor Mariaelena Motzo - dIt shows how essential it is to put the digital skills present within the regional administration at the service of citizens. The great work carried out together with the other institutions involved aims to make our work increasingly efficient and effective, with a concrete impact on the daily lives of Sardinian citizens. Sharing information in real time and ensuring effective coordination between institutions - he added - it is essential to offer targeted and personalized responses to the needs of the youngest.”

The double presentation in Cagliari and Sassari represented a fundamental step in launching the system into full operation, involving institutions, local administrators, operators and communities in the procedures for managing minors in the community. This collective commitment aims to offer concrete and structured support to minors throughout the region.
