Brescia, where art enters the hospital: Fondazione Brescia Musei and ASST Spedali Civili together for the community.

Yesterday, Monday 28th October the new project began Brescia Museums Foundation made together to the Children's Hospital Presidio of the ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia and to the referents of the project "The School in Hospital" of the Benedetto Castelli Higher Education Institute and the Centro 3 Comprehensive Institute of Brescia, thanks to the support of the ASM Foundation.

After the positive experience of the pilot project inaugurated in 2018, then suspended due to the health emergency, the collaboration resumes and for the occasion a two-year agreement was stipulated, which includes a series of interactive educational activities, in particular workshops, structured on the approach and in-depth knowledge of the artistic heritage of the Civic Museums and on the temporary exhibition itineraries set up in the museums themselves.

The activities are held on a Monday every three weeks and the meetings are dedicated to primary school students and middle and high school students, guests of the Hospital. In conjunction with the holidays most loved by children – Santa Lucia, Halloween, Christmas and Easter – additional meetings will be scheduled.

Thanks to the contribution provided by the ASM Foundation, the activities for users are completely free.

The project is part of the activities that Fondazione Brescia Musei, through the actions implemented by the Educational Services, offers to all the Associations that deal with “fragile public”, whether they have sensory, motor and cognitive disabilities or people living in situations of social marginalization or educational poverty.

The aim is to lead participants, through stimulating paths and activities, to the knowledge of the history of the city, to recognize themselves as part of it by triggering a virtuous process that sees art at the center of the healing process.

Thanks to these projects, the Museums have concretely opened their doors to audiences who would otherwise be excluded from participating in cultural life, thus confirming the centrality of the museum institution in the process of social integration. Over the years, this type of activity has received widespread appreciation, to the point that the proposals of the Brescia Museums Foundation are requested by an ever-increasing number of associations, cooperatives, RSAs and day centres active in the community.

Brescia Museums Foundation is a foundation of public-private participation chaired by Francesca Bazoli and directed by Stefano Karadjov. They are part of the Brescia Museums Foundation Brixia. Archaeological Park of Roman Brescia, Museum of Santa Giulia, Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery, Luigi Marzoli Museum of Arms, Leonessa d'Italia Museum of the Risorgimento, Brescia Castle Falco d'Italia and Cinema Nuovo Eden.
