Brescia: “FOCO – Exposing Contemporary Photography”, eight young artists to investigate technology through photography

MOCHA – Center for New Cultures, Ma.Co.F – Center of Italian Photography and TWO – Academy of Fine Arts of Brescia are pleased to present the second exhibition of FOCO – Exposing Contemporary Photography, a project born with the aim of investigating the boundaries of contemporary photographic language.

The second exhibition focuses on the theme of tech, exploring our complex relationship with it through the works of eight young artists emerging, all under 35: Benetollo Andrej, Beqiri Livia, Blasi Maila, Castelli Marco, Colombo Giacomo, Rizzello Sharon, Sorrentino Jessica, Zerbinati Marco. Their creations offer a critical and innovative vision, opening a debate on the role of technology in contemporary society and inviting the public to reflect on how it shapes our daily lives.

The inauguration will take place Saturday 26 October at 18:30, at the Dance Hall of MO.CA – Center for New Cultures, in via Moretto 78, Brescia.

Still within the programming today Thursday 24 October at 17:30 pm, the meeting entitled “Beyond the Shot: Evolutions and Trends in Contemporary Photography“. A debate between Antonella Monzoni, photographer and deputy director of the magazine “People of Photography"And Maurizio Rebuzzini, critic and director of “Photography”, on the new directions and technical and aesthetic developments of photography today.

THE PROMOTERS

MO.CA – CENTER FOR NEW CULTURES is an incubator of innovative projects in the field of art, culture and contemporary creativity.

Since 2016, it has been based in the historic Palazzo Martinengo Colleoni di Malpaga in Brescia and over the years it has developed as a laboratory for design experimentation and a meeting space that offers artistic and cultural experiences and opportunities for professional and entrepreneurial growth.

The cultural associations resident in MO.CA operate in various sectors: the activities offered range from art exhibitions and live concerts, to theater and music festivals, multimedia and design projects, and training and orientation programs for young people.

MO.CA is a valorization project promoted by the Municipality of Brescia, in collaboration with: Fondazione ASM, Brescia Infrastrutture and the trade associations Assopadana, Confartigianato, CNA, Associazione Artigiani di Brescia.

MACOF – CENTER OF ITALIAN PHOTOGRAPHY, born in May 2016, in the important location of the baroque Martinengo Colleoni palace in the center of Brescia. A place of knowledge, reflection, research on Italian photography, on its history and its protagonists, on its identity, a space open to discussion on visual language, on the trends that characterize Italian photography today and on its future prospects.

The backbone of the Center is a permanent exhibition that reconstructs the history of Italian photography in the second half of the twentieth century. The activity of Macof develops around this collection and the breadth of suggestions it offers, which unfolds in several directions: temporary exhibitions on aspects, moments, authors, of the history of Italian photography, meetings with photographers, debates, conferences and seminars, film festivals on photography, educational and training activities.

LABA – FREE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS, With over 20 years of history, thousands of graduated students, 8 three-year courses and 6 two-year courses, 3 campuses in Brescia, the Libera Accademia di Belle Arti LABA is included in the university sector as an Institute of Higher Artistic Training, AFAM. LABA issues first and second level diplomas recognized by the Ministry of University and Research and trains tomorrow's professionals thanks to the quality of design in all creative disciplines. Currently the Schools range from Visual Arts to Design, from Decoration to Cinema, from Scenography to Fashion Design, from Graphic Design & Multimedia to Digital Design & Communication, up to Photography.

The Academy's salient feature is its training method, which involves students in projects and collaborations with companies, institutions, and entities in the area, but also at a national and international level, with the aim of learning through direct experience, simulating what the actual conditions of the world of work will be, including in the creative field.
