Brescia: “I was, I am, I will be”, the photographic exhibition on display at Palazzo Loggia from 24 September to 3 October
From today 24th September to 3rd October 2024, in Vanvitellian Hall of Palazzo Loggia a Brescia, the photographic exhibition “ will be exhibitedI was, I am, I will be".
This is a selection of approximately 40 fotografie, in large format, of several women and a man who have lived the experience of breast cancer and who posed covered by a veil.
The shots describe in an honest, original and elegant way the wound and the stories of those who have faced the pain of discovering the disease and the effort of treatment, but also of those who have lived this experience as an opportunity to get back into the game, rethink how to take care of themselves and find the courage to make a dream come true.
The project, which aims to celebrate life first and foremost by proposing a reflection on time, was born from an idea of Silvia Amodio, a graduate in philosophy, journalist, photographer and documentary maker who has always worked on complex issues, who created it in collaboration with Coop Lombardia (you can view it here https://ioerosonosaro.it/ ).
The exhibition was previewed at Ibiza in 2017, then it was exposed to Milano, at the Sforza Castle, where it was visited by 10.000 people, and in other places, including the European Institute of Oncology in Milano, the IRCCS of Parma and the Festival of Ethical Photography of Lodi.
It is now proposed in Brescia to remember a protagonist of these shots, Sonia Prandini, died in 2020 at age 41 due to a new tumor. Some of her friends, supported by associations that deal with these issues such as Komen Italia and ANT, strongly wanted to exhibit the show right around the month of October, dedicated to breast cancer prevention, and found a warm welcome inside the symbolic building of our city.
