The fourth edition of Game Ground, the national festival dedicated to the video game culture, enters its most intense week with a packed program that will culminate in the unmissable final weekend. Starting last October 5, the event that confirms Bolzano as the Italian epicenter for fans of gaming, pop culture and technological innovation will continue until Sunday, October 20th.
Organized by the association BeYoung (UPAD) with the support of the Youth Policy Office of the Province of Bolzano, the Youth Office of the Municipality of Bolzano, the Bolzano Tourist Board and the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation, the festival offers a wide range of free events ranging from tournaments and interactive exhibitions to conferences and panels with industry experts in many locations around the city: Castel Mareccio, Palazzo Mercantile, Museo di Scienze Naturali, Twenty, UPAD, DRIN, Biblioteca Civica, Parkhotel Laurin, Conservatorio and Cineplexx.
Among the most appreciated novelties of this fourth edition, the historical exhibition on video games: an overview of its evolution over the last seventy years curated by the BeYoung association. Until the end of the festival, Sunday 20 October, the 2nd and 4th floors of the Twenty host the Retrogaming Show: a journey through the history of video games and a retrospective on violence in video games, flanked by the arcade cabinet area and various latest-generation consoles. The stations will be accessible every day from 16: 00 to 19: 30 And in the weekends from 10:00 to 19:30.
Wednesday October 16, 18:30 at Parkhotel Laurin, the festival will come to life with the Inaugural Conference. A panel entitled “BZ to rest of the world: videogames as sport“, will see the people of Bolzano as protagonists Stephen Tabarelli, Alex Stan e Mark Olivari, all active in the international e-sports scene, to explore the status of competitive gaming and the path from the Bolzano reality to global-scale competitions.
Thursday 13th October Will be held the Mario Party 2024 Tournament. At DRIN in Corso Italia 34, by 20: 00 22 to: 00, an epic evening will take place: four teams will compete with each other on the brand new Super Mario Party Jamboree console. Up for grabs, for the champions, a special prize. On the field of strategy, timing and lots of fun for veterans of the game but also for “noobs” playing their first game.
Born in 2021 on the initiative of BeYoung and the Youth Policy Office of the Province, Game Ground continues to grow while maintaining its focus on the objective of highlighting the artistic, cultural and professional identity of video games. Transformed into a platform since 2023, with activities that pervade the entire province and region all year round, Game Ground reaches its peak every year in the month of October with a long series of events that, for the fourth edition, will culminate on the weekend of the 18th to the 20th. This year's calendar is extremely rich and varied, with dozens of events designed for an audience of all generations.
