“Between nature and culture”: the exhibition to discover the Municipio IV of Bari is underway.
Bringing the periphery to the center by discovering it, telling it and enjoying it: this is the goal of “Between nature and culture”, a series of free events that aims to strengthen the identity of the Municipio IV of Bari.
These issues were discussed this morning, during the press conference to present the first edition of the initiative, which will run from next Friday, November 15th, until December 15th, will turn the spotlight on the neighborhoods of Carbonara, Ceglie and Loseto which will become the scene of guided tours, musical moments, book presentations, excursions and taste workshops, activities that aim to make known an area rich in beauty and with great potential.
The exhibition was born from an initiative of the administration of Municipio IV, convinced that the knowledge, history and flavours of the places represent the perfect triptych to enhance the characteristics of an area. The idea was then developed in collaboration with Radici Future Produzioni, the cooperative that won the tender.
"We are happy to launch the first edition of a cultural program that, in fact, responds to our desire to enhance the Municipio IV - Said the president Maria Chiara Addabbo -. Ours is a varied territory, rich in history, traditions, natural and architectural beauties that deserve to be known and experienced by both residents and tourists. For this reason, we have thought of a calendar full of meetings and guided tours that lead visitors to discover our territory in all its expressions. We strongly believe in this project that, I am sure, will contribute to revealing the many unexpressed potentials of the neighborhoods of our Municipality".
In the last decade, the city of Bari has begun a process of recognizing Municipio IV as a place no longer peripheral, isolated and detached from the urban dimension, but as an integral part of it. A redevelopment that, through this project, is strengthened and now aims to actively involve citizens, who often, despite living and experiencing these places, do not know them.
"As Radici Future Produzioni we are happy to work for Carbonara, Ceglie and Loseto - has explained Leonardo Palmisano, President of RFP -. Here we can experience the beginning of the growth of identity of a territory wrongly described as a place of only crime. This Municipality is not a suburb, but a triangle of historical centers and an articulation of hope. Three places rich in identity to be promoted. We therefore invite citizens to participate in the scheduled events, all free, to learn about the heritage that goes under the name of Municipio IV".
During the press conference there was also talk of the importance of active participation of citizens in events. People are in fact at the centre of that process which aims to give effective recognition to the qualities and potential of the three neighbourhoods.
"The goal we have been pursuing for a long time is to highlight how our historical-architectural and naturalistic heritage represents a resource for the entire city. - he concluded the president of the municipal Culture commission Giuseppe Maselli -. For this reason we are satisfied with the project, for which I thank all the members of the Culture Commission of Municipio IV. Now we will work to ensure that this program is widely disseminated in order to involve as many people as possible.".
