«Benevento becomes a Cardioprotected City. They become operational six life-saving devices in as many areas of the city: we chose the rural areas and the areas furthest from the hospitals. We are pioneers, among the first southern capitals to equip ourselves with these fundamental devices. Already in the next few weeks, another six defibrillators will be available, thanks to some of my friends who have agreed to donate them to the city".

The mayor of Benevento said this on Saturday Clement Mastella, which inaugurated the defibrillator station in the Libertà district, at the former San Modesto 1 school, near the association's headquarters Me for Benevento. Another five devices were positioned in three districts (Madonna della Salute near the school building, via San Vitale near the former school and via Olivola near the Eldorado club), in the Capodimonte district (near the church of San Giuseppe Moscati) and along Corso Garibaldi (near the municipal theatre).

«Defibrillators? The reasoning is of elementary simplicity: if one remains indifferent by the law 'null question' but one must respond to one's conscience; if they are used incorrectly, they risk not being effective. But if they are used correctly and promptly, a human life is saved», explained the councilor delegated to health policies Luca De Lipsis, who then announced the next, crucial phase of the project Benevento Cardioprotected: «Training courses for the use of defibrillators will start at Palazzo Paolo V: to participate it will be sufficient to fill out the form on the web page of the Health Observatory of the Municipality of Benevento, inserting in the object 'Participation in training courses for defibrillator use '. Interested parties will be contacted individually by the Municipality", concludes De Lipsis.
