Bari, the third edition of the "Sensitive to beauty" project presented
With 13 works of art on the bus stop shelters inside the Polyclinic
Bari, the third edition of the "Sensitive to beauty" project presented.
The third edition of the project was presented yesterday morning “Sensitive to beauty”, organized by the cultural association “Art workshops of Puglia” under the patronage of Municipality of Bari, of the Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Bari.
Thirteen works, five created by masters who have made the history of Apulian culture and who were teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari and eight by young talents of the Academy's scientific illustration chair in the style of the graphic novel, they were installed on the shelters of the Amtab shuttle bus stops inside the Polyclinic, as a tribute to doctors and healthcare workers.
The general director of the Polyclinic illustrated the project John Better and the Councilor for Cultures Ines Pierucci, in the presence of the teacher Rossana Pucciarelli of the Academy of Fine Arts, of the vice-rector of the University Grazia Paola Nicchia, of the president of the medical school Alessandro Dell'Erba and representatives of the cultural association “Art workshops of Puglia”. The young authors of the illustrations were also present.
«I truly thank everyone who committed themselves to this project – he began John Better -. The Polyclinic is a neighborhood in the city of Bari crossed every day by around 20 thousand people including healthcare personnel, users, students and suppliers. We are working to make it increasingly welcoming and integrated into the urban fabric. The hospital must not only treat but take care of those who live there and the beauty expressed by these works is a way to do it better. In what is sometimes a place of suffering but also of rebirth, citizens must find a pleasant environment that allows them to spend the more or less complicated moments of their lives and take care of their health in a slightly more serene way".
«This is the third edition of the “Sensitive to beauty” project - he highlighted Ines Pierucci -. The previous ones saw the decoration of the shelters throughout the city, this time we chose to be here in the Policlinico district of Bari. It is a choice that has an important value because art restores knowledge, cultures and knowledge in what is a healing space, but also of suffering and pain. And we also restore trust to the young artists of the Academy who, together with great artists such as De Robertis, Conenna, Spizzico, Colonna and Sylos Labini, see their works exhibited in open spaces not out of a duty to tell the story of the past but as a memory and an act of peace ».
Among the avenues of the Polyclinic the portraits of Roberto de Robertis, the artist from Bari who with his personal commitment favored the establishment first of the artistic high school and then of the Academy of Fine Arts; the mosaics of Raffaele Spizzico; the intertwining of red colored sheets of Mimmo Conenna; the colours, signs and shapes of the studio of Mario Colonna; solitude in the multitude of the work exhibited by Giuseppe Sylos Labini at the 54th Venice Biennale. And then there are the illustrations of the young artists who share the style of the graphic novel but who reinterpret the architecture of the Polyclinic in a personal way, representing the daily life inside the hospital in a suspended and dreamlike way.
