Bari, the 14th edition of the "Mimmo Bucci" award presented

The press conference to present the 14th edition of the award took place this morning in the council room of Palazzo di Città “Mimmo Bucci, National Festival of Emerging Music”. The initiative, created to remember Mimmo Bucci, the group's frontman “Vasco's gang” hit and killed by a pirate motorbike on the Bari seafront on the night of 15 May 2007, intends to give a voice to young musicians and, at the same time, offer them an opportunity to emerge in the musical panorama.

The final evening of the Festival will be held Saturday 3 February at 20pm at the Petruzzelli Theatre of Bari. Speakers at today's meeting with the press included the Councilor for Culture Ines Pierucci, the artistic director of the event Antonello Vannucci, Antonio Bucci, Mimmo's father, and Mauro Pulpito, who will host the evening together with the journalist and speaker by RadioNorba Stefania Losito.

“We are very happy to host the press conference to present the fourteenth edition of the “Mimmo Bucci” award, an event that is now part of the cultural identity heritage of our city, in the name of music as an opportunity for professional growth and redemption - said Ines Pierucci -. Mimmo Bucci's is an extraordinarily generous family, which was able to transform a great loss into an opportunity to give many talented girls and boys an opportunity to find their path and their future in music. And it is truly the best way to follow the example of Mimmo, who had in his character, as those who knew him well did not fail to point out, this great generosity and desire to support others, starting with the new generations. It is important, therefore, that events like this contribute to creating more and more opportunities for valorization and professional growth, objectives that, in recent years, we have pursued in our administrative action in the music and entertainment sectors. I therefore thank, also on behalf of the mayor Antonio Decaro, the Bucci family and all the people who believe in this award and who, year after year, work to make it ever more beautiful and important, in the name and memory of Mimmo."

“Over the years this award has grown more and more and is now characterized by a truly high quality of musical offering – said Antonello Vannucci -. An important moment of this edition will be the dialogue with the journalist Monica Sbisà, the last to interview Mimmo. The idea for the award was born precisely from that article: on that occasion, in fact, Mimmo spoke about his idea of ​​creating a non-profit association to support local artists. The commitment of Mimmo's family therefore also starts from that interview which we will recall. Mimmo was truly a son of the Libertà neighborhood, everyone knew him and everyone loved him. And for him music and culture meant, first of all, inclusion: this is why we continue this year too with our idea of ​​a very popular ticket price for the evening at Petruzzelli, thanks to the support of the Municipality of Bari, the Region Puglia, the Petruzzelli foundation, the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and all the other partners. Important names in our musical panorama have passed through this award, such as Gaetano De Caro, Maninni and others: this means that Bari has great potential. We want to be a driving force for these talents: the credit is all theirs, they stand out because they are good. What we can do, and will continue to do, is offer them an opportunity and a stage like that of Petruzzelli".

“My wife Francesca and I thank all the institutions and all the people, a truly extraordinary team, who once again support the prize dedicated to our son Mimmo this year – declared Antonio Bucci -. We are now at the fourteenth edition of this event which is growing more and more, and we are very happy about this. The quality of the participants was so high that this year the jury had some difficulty in choosing the finalists and had to leave out some pieces that were absolutely capable of playing for the final on the prestigious Petruzzelli stage. We are happy, in particular, because this award increasingly represents an important opportunity for young musical talents. Mimmo would have been very proud of this, because it was what he always tried to do too: help all the other young musicians to have opportunities, spaces, evenings to perform".

“Mimmo's presence, his generosity and his humanity, are always felt very strongly, and this is truly incredible – concluded Mauro Pulpito -. Years ago, in a memory of Mimmo, I called him my greatest friend who I never met and I believe this is increasingly true for many people. For this edition we have a musical offering that is confirmed to be of increasingly higher quality, and also many important guests, such as Gaetano De Caro and comedians Francesco Paolantoni and Stefano Sarcinelli. I am, therefore, very happy to present this evening with Stefania Losito in order to be able to give our contribution to this award which we all really care about, and which we have the duty and honor to continue to carry forward. The award is increasingly becoming a reference in the music field and getting to the final matters more and more. The appointment for everyone is therefore at Petruzzelli, for the final evening on February 3rd”.

Various guests will alternate during the course of the evening. The theater and dance company will open the event “Mad Actor”, then it will be time for the dialogue with the journalist Monica Sbisà.

During the evening, Antonello Vannucci will take off his role as artistic director to wear those of “musicomico”. And as per tradition, there will be no shortage of important guests. Among them, the first will be a singer who is now at home in the event dedicated to Mimmo Bucci, in which he participated, placing himself among the top three in the rankings: we are talking about Gaetano De Caro, who took part in the latest edition of X-factor. Furthermore, the event will be enriched by the participation of a historic comedy duo, the one formed by Francesco Paolantoni and Stefano Sarcinelli.
