After 557 days of stay in the garden of Misia Arte in Bari, the work in progress and itinerant Work of Nature arrives at the outdoor spaces of the Municipality of Bari. Here it will have a new life, and will be called Connections, March 2023.
Bari: in the atrium of Palazzo di città the installation “Work of nature/Connections” by Guillermina de Gennaro.
In the hall di City Palace da Wednesday March 29, will be placed the work Work of Nature / Connections, of the artist Guillermina De Gennaro. The installation, designed on the occasion of Biarch since September 2021 Warehouse Murat garden of Misia Arte gallery, there is remained for over a year, curated and documented in its evolution that connected the historic location, safeguard of natural elements always at work, with apparently harmless plaster casts.
Il theme call him back ongoing clash between man and nature and leads us to reflect that, with the spend some time, the enormous deterioration for which we are responsible risks destroy above all ourselves, overwhelming the beauty and culture that the casts of David represent, and invites us with the delicacy that distinguishes the work of Guillermina De Gennaro, to care and respect.
“The atrium of Palazzo di Città is enriched with a site-specific installation by the artist Guillermina De Gennaro, Argentinian by birth and Bari by adoption, in a fusion of art, history, ecology and social commitment – declares Micaela Paparella, councilor delegated to policies for the valorisation of the historical, artistic and architectural heritage -. Work of Nature|Connections is a work from the Neo-nature cycle, alive and vital that space and above all time transforms into new forms. Guillermina De Gennaro's gentle and rigorous research has the appearance of a true alchemical procedure that silently reveals the magical mutations of nature."
“Nature is afraid of the void… and continually invades spaces with its silent and constant practice, canceling well-defined forms, transgressing current values and canons, playing with the margins, subverting the ugly into beautiful, the void into full – comments Guillermina De Gennaro -. His limit is man, who would like to lead her to order, but nature always creates intelligent connections, and now more than ever I feel on his side.
The installation is made with a series of classical mold casts, artistic models par excellence, which, surrounded by some plants with a pointed, fleshy and bursting shape, could be scratched by that perennial and ceaseless vital movement of nature.
Il conflitto between the manipulative intent of the new humanity and the creative/destructive force of nature puts us directly in communication with the artist's reflection.
Guillermina De Gennaro ci said, with his site-specific work begun on 9 September 2021 in the outdoor garden of the Misia Arte gallery, the possible implications/actions which also through the body reveal ancestral connections between man and nature.
The installation, initially created in internal garden of a Murat building, a border place where time is marked by the silent growth of plants, will now be measured with a totally different place, a pulsating space in our city, where apparently there is no trace of the secret life of nature, but which becomes the scene of a possible encounter with the sensitivity of those who will cross that space and with the succession of everyday actions, in a place that determines the life and history of our city. Thus one is born network of probable grafts, aimed at one re-synchronization with nature.
“The acceptance of the unknown also becomes the cornerstone in being able to look beyond, even when the act is extreme – observes Manuela De Leonardis, journalist and art curator -. Cancellation/destruction, moreover, can awaken a regenerating force. Themes that coincide with environmentalist ones of an increasingly urgent nature in the scenario of a collapsing contemporaneity, devastated by natural disasters of which man is the most avid accomplice".
