Also this year on January 17thThere will be a day of culture and tradition dedicated to the valorisation of local and popular languages for the anniversary of the Dialect Festival throughout Italy.
In Bari the celebration will be honoured, as usual, by the Culture commission of the Municipality of Bari, chaired by Giuseppe Cascella, by the councilor appointed by the mayor Loredana Battista and by the associations gathered in the Homage to Bar projecti, conceived and coordinated by Vito Signorile, director of the multipurpose culture center Gruppo Abeliano, with the collaboration of Nicola Cutino, director of the Mondo Antico e tempi moderni association and in collaboration with the State Archives directed by Adriano Buzzanca.
The event, with free entry, will take place in the auditorium of the State Archives (in via Pietro Oreste 45), starting from 10 am, with the inaugural session during which there will be speeches by the authorities and organizers, in the presence of students from the Duse, Marco Polo and Marconi-Hack institutes who will recite their own compositions in vernacular.
In the afternoon, from 17pm, it will be the turn of the authors and local associations, whose poems will alternate with the performances of Enzo Vacca, Antonella Genga and Brando Rossi.
The 2024 edition of the “Dialect Festival”, in addition to underlining the importance of the vernacular as a daily communicative language and vehicle of literary creation, it is characterized as particularly marked by intergenerational dialogue and the rediscovery of places that preserve and pass on the cultural heritage of the local community, such as the structure of the State Archives from Bari.
