Asti: Kindness Bench inaugurated at the Tree Festival
In the green area of Via Madre Teresa di Calcutta in Asti, 150 children celebrated kindness and nature with workshops, sports and community.

The afternoon before yesterday, Thursday 21 November 2024, approximately 150 children from the Gramsci and Domenico Savio primary schools they populated and cheered up the green area of Via Madre Teresa di Calcutta with posters, drawings and songs linked to the theme of kindness and listened to the story of the purple bench, told by David, citizen of Asti, former resident of the Rom camp, who donated it to the city, and by the volunteers of the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Association who regenerated it.
Councillor Loretta Bologna underlined the importance of accompanying everyday actions with kind gestures and words, and Councillor Eleonora Zollo thanked all those present for the community synergies created, slater all together with the volunteers of the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Association, with David and the classes they inaugurated the bench.
In a moment of silence, the volunteer Arturo of the Madre Teresa Association was remembered, to whom a plant in the green area was dedicated.
The classes were then divided into various sports and nature workshops, experimenting with planting bulbs in the green area with volunteers from the Madre Teresa Association, basketball with the Scuola Basket Asti (SBA), football with the Scuola Calcio San Domenico Savio and urban dance with Explosao Dance School.
Volunteers from the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Association together with volunteers from the Asti Est Coordination distributed snacks to the classes. The families of the neighborhood after the end of the activities aimed at schools, they came to pick up their children and were able to experience moments of sharing with everyone present.
The initiative, coordinated and managed by the Social Policies, Education and Educational Services Sector, in collaboration with various local entities, first and foremost the Territorial School Office, it was the first appointment of the Community Program “Games without Neighborhood” 2024-2025 edition.
"The Administration intends to continue to spread educational opportunities that can enrich the experiential baggage of children, young people and families by encouraging intergenerational exchanges and strengthening the local community, and thanks all the organizations that contribute to the realization of the initiatives of the community program Giochi senza Quartiere" - commented Mayor Maurizio Rasero.
