“Art Thrown Away” – At the school house in via Roma in Campobasso an exhibition with paintings torn from the landfill.
It's the initiative “Art thrown away”, promoted by the Municipality of Campobasso as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction, with which a series of paintings, pictures and frames will be put on display and subsequently auctioned, recovered from the municipal collection center of the SEA in Contrada Santa Maria de Foras in Campobasso and therefore removed from the landfill.
It is no wonder that paintings and works of art also arrive at an ecological island. Rampant consumerism causes a lot decommissioned and thrown away material is still perfectly usable but we often prefer to get rid of it hastily rather than look for tools that encourage reuse. Yet there is no shortage of second-hand markets or gift platforms, including via social networks, but it is certainly necessary to overcome the cultural distrust towards second-hand and
reuse.
With this initiative, the Municipality of Campobasso wants to raise citizens' awareness of theme of Reuse and reuse of abandoned assets, exposing what would have been destined to become waste in a decidedly premature manner.
The exhibition will be open on Saturday 25 November at 11.00 in the atrium of the former school, while in the afternoon, at 17.00, there will be a symbolic auction with which, with an offer, the pieces on display can be purchased for the purpose to raise the necessary funds for the planting of an important building tree in Piazza Musenga.
