Arezzo, Put Sport in the Square: Saturday between young people and sport

The event will take place on Saturday 21 May both in Piazza San Giusto and in the Pertini park

Arezzo, Put Sport in the Square: Saturday between young people and sport.

The stop caused by the pandemic is now a memory. And also the neighborhood of Porta Sant'Andrea, in collaboration with the Biancoverde 1932 sports association and the patronage of the Municipality of Arezzo, the provincial delegation of Fidal and the Arezzo committee of the Uisp, starts again with the thirteenth edition of "Put Sport in Piazza".

The event will take place Saturday May 21 both in Piazza San Giusto, with the table tennis tournament at 15pm, and in the Pertini park with many performances starting from 30pm.

“We fully embrace it – underlines the sports councilor Federico Scapecchi – the aims of the event which rightly aims to promote various sports disciplines, including those with less media attention, and make children and young people protagonists. If sport is socialisation, 'Metti in Piazza lo Sport' takes on considerable relevance from this point of view due to its free nature and its inclusive vocation: a guarantee of success for the organizers and a guarantee of fun for all those who intend to participate" .

The associations

The list of associations and sports clubs participating in the initiative is truly extensive: Arezzo Table Tennis, Giotto Arezzo Tennis, Arezzo Baseball Softball Club, Amen SBA Basket, National Association of State Police - Archers Sports Group, Funakoshi Karate Club, Don Walter Oratory, Chimera Wrestling (Greek Roman Wrestling), Arezzo Fencing Club, Arezzo Bocce, Petrarca Arezzo Gymnastics, Vasari Arezzo – Rugby, Arezzo Club – Volleyball Academy, Sestini Arezzo Athletics, We Love Insulina Team.

“After three years – underlines the rector Maurizio Carboni – a sporting event returns which has seen exponential growth over the various editions both from the point of view of organization and the number of participants. More and more organizations are deciding to participate and this represents an element of pride for us."

Gianni Bardi of the sports commission of the Porta Sant'Andrea district: “the Pertini park will be transformed into an arena for many disciplines to make the experience of the young participants unique, who will be able to try their hand at it with the help and teaching of qualified instructors. I remind you that the event will be valid as the second stage of the 'Fidal Provincial Debuts 2022', a circuit of athletics competitions at provincial level reserved for debutant categories, boys and girls aged 6 to 11. New this year, thanks to the collaboration with the Inner Wheel Arezzo Carf, will be the demonstrations to allow children with motor difficulties to play basketball or fence".

a manifestazione si svolgerà sabato 21 maggio sia in piazza San Giusto, con alle 15:30 il torneo di tennis tavolo, sia nella cornice del parco Pertini

Appointment with the psychologists of Confcommercio

As part of "Put Sport in Piazza", a meeting with the president of the association is scheduled for 18pm psychologists group of Confcommercio Arezzo Elisa Marcheselli and councilor Francesca Martini on the topic "Sport: a tool for inclusion for young people".

“And it doesn't end here – recalls Maurizio Carboni – because sport and the Porta Sant'Andrea neighborhood will continue to be a winning combination even in the days to come with the thirty-second edition of the White-green pedaling for Sunday 29st May, with free participation, with meeting in Piazza San Giusto at 9:00 and a route suitable even for the little ones through the streets of the neighborhood and the surrounding hamlets, with breakfast in the stables where children will be able to see the jousters' horses up close in their environment natural.

The sixth Carlo Fardelli memorial

And with the sixth Carlo Fardelli memorial for Thursday June 9, road running race organized with the collaboration of Atletica Sestini, dedicated to the unforgettable and multi-victorious green and white captain. I always meet in Piazza San Giusto at 19pm and leave at 00pm. A circuit of just over seven kilometers which counts as the eighth stage of the 'Tuscany Run Ten 20' but is also a nice non-competitive test, or at most a walk, for enthusiasts and simple amateurs".

With "Put Sport in Piazza" on Saturday 21 May some changes will also be made to traffic and parking: from 9am to midnight the removal of vehicles parked in Piazza San Giusto and Via delle Gagliarde. From 24 pm to midnight there will be a ban on transit in Piazza San Giusto, Via delle Gagliarde and in the stretch of Via Guadagnoli between Via Macallè and Via delle Gagliarde with the exception of residents.
