STATEMENTS
“La Mole has begun its own philosophical journey which is continuing with the Festival of Plural Thought which is important for its historicity because it was the first festival in the Italian panorama for over a quarter of a century. Meetings at various levels and even across the territory allow culture to enter more and more into the life of the city, creating a strong and important match between what is proposed and what is received. I thank Giancarlo Galeazzi, creator of the festival, Professor Luccarini, artistic director and all the sponsors who made this initiative possible” stated the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Ancona, Anna Maria Bertini.
“Started in 1997, the Festival of Plural Thought has never been an ideological place but a place where philosophy investigated and investigates itself with the most important voices. This is how it happens again this year. I thank all those who wanted to support this 2024 edition” declared Professor Antonio Luccarini, artistic director.
“We were the first in Italy to bring the philosopher on stage and encourage a direct discussion with the audience; this year the Festival of Plural Thought is also expanding to the city with an initiative spread across various places to make the event increasingly engaging and shared" stated Francesca Di Giorgio, "Lirici Greci", visual communications manager.
“Love is the engine of the world. We are in a moment in which we live immersed in wars which are the opposite of love. This year's theme of the event concerns love and we must understand that love is peace that is born from the family and then gradually moves to the nations" explained Aldo Grassini, president of the Omero State Tactile Museum.
“We consider this initiative to be important for Ancona; highlighting philosophical thought in this historical moment is important for an interpretation of the human being and of the new social life that we cannot neglect" asserted Serenella Spaccacaniccia, President of the Rotary Club of Ancona, District 2029.
“The Rotary wanted to support this project to give a cultural and important event to our city” underlined Massimiliano Olivieri for the Rotary 2090 district.
“We share the spirit that animates this event and we are happy to participate and support it” said Filiberto Manzoni, Alberto Corinaldesi Foundation.
“The concept of love which is also experienced in a negative way is very close to our hearts; instead we want to relaunch a positive image: there is not only sick love, which hurts and humiliates...instead there is a noble feeling that must be cultivated, which must be stimulated at all levels, an education for the young but also for the older ones ” said Maria Ausilia Gambacorta, president of the “Forma Formante” association.
“Love and music will be the conference that we will organize in May and which will continue the series of events of the festival” announced Cristina Gorajiski and Bona Finocchi respectively president and vice president of the Ancona Riviera del Conero section of the BPW Italy Fidapa
PLURAL THOUGHT FESTIVAL 2024 The Words of Philosophy Festival conceived by Giancarlo Galeazzi and directed by Antonio Luccarini 27th edition: “Paths of Love”
Heidegger maintains that Eros-Love guides the movement of thought and gives it wings, allowing it to fly: every essential step on the speculative level finds its generative force in love. He intends to refer to the plurality expressed by the title of the programming of the philosophical meetings of our review which, now in its 27th edition, confirms itself as the longest running Philosophy Festival on the Italian national scene. The devastating extent of the systemic crisis, which besieges the present at the level of values, ecological balances, economic, social and political stability, would apparently seem to relegate the theme of love to the margins of speculative debate, given the dramatic nature of the urgencies that demand, not only insights, but, above all, solutions that cannot be postponed. But if it is true that with philosophy living questions itself, it must be admitted that the most pressing questions concern fundamental events such as Love. In truth, the forms that define contemporaneity, in the triumph of technology, in the emancipations achieved in the sexual spheres, socio-economic and cultural, they give us a completely new conception of love compared to the past: love freed from the social constraints imposed by tradition manifests itself in the present as the main space for the fulfillment of the individual, for his most intimate choices and for the affirmation of his identity, precisely in relation to the other.
The Festival will be structured as follows: the THE WORDS OF PHILOSOPHY -Meetings with philosophers, at 21.15pm in the Auditorium of the Mole Vanvitelliana (replacing the Teatro Sperimentale); in this year's survey we will have the support of the authoritative, yet heterogeneous, voices of: Vito Mancuso, Paolo Ercolani, Angelo Spina, Marcello Veneziani, Diego Fusaro, Roberto Mancini, Alberto Maggi.
Continue with news pills AT SCHOOL OF PHILOSOPHY also in this case with a plurality of voices, who will take turns in the classrooms of the Faculty of Economics and Business at 17.15 pm
The philosophical debate returns with the students of the "Savoia Benincasa" Scientific High School in Ancona, and returns to a theme to which young people are particularly sensitive, that of love, which in the meeting to be held in March in the main hall of the 'Institute in via Marini, when will love be presented under the title “Eros and/or agape?”. These two forms of love are seen not as alternatives to each other (eros aut agape), which is the most usual approach, but in their complementarity (eros et agape), to say that there is a need for both another: both of desire love (eros) and of gift love (agape). As in every debate, in this one too the pros and cons for one and the other form of love will be presented, starting from the belief that it is not a question of choosing one or the other but of experiencing the beauty of 'one and also the other, because they are different ways of experiencing love and each is valid if it does not claim to be all-encompassing, that is, to be the only expression of love.
New this year is THE PHILOSOPHICAL LIBRARY – meetings with Italian authors – a sort of urban incursions in various places in the city including museums, libraries, bookshops and private spaces. The first two authors invited to inaugurate the first part will be Stefano Simoncelli with the book Sotto false nome (ed. Pequod) finalist in the first edition of the "Premio Strega" for poetry 2023 and Luigi Ferrari with his book Il cenacolo di Shakespeare ed. The Melangolo.
In its fourfold articulation, the Festival wants to be what it has always been: an exercise in thought under the banner of pluralism, an invitation to reflect on issues disputed today, an opportunity for theoretical discussion open to all in the awareness that philosophy is not only a professional activity for some and a school subject for others, but it is also the privileged place for a dialectical and dialogic experience, which finds the space to be exercised in democratic society. In particular, the ambition of our Festival is to cultivate the relationship of the polis with the logos, without neglecting ethos and pathos, in the belief that philosophy is called to make us aware of the complexity of being a person. Thus, thanks to the support of various bodies, first and foremost and always the Municipality of Ancona, the Festival has allowed us to "get together to think" and to "meet to think together". In Ancona, a city of commerce: of things but also of ideas.
All meetings are ad FREE ADMISSION– while places last.
