Ancona: “Festa del Mare 2024”. There will be numerous talks where we will discuss the new skills at the service of the sea economy.

The Sea Festival 2024 edition, which this weekend will liven up Ancona with a long series of initiatives from the Passetto to the Doric Port, continues on the path already traced last year, which is accompanied by a schedule of meetings and talks dedicated to the most current topics, linked to the world of fishing and sea professions, to the planning of various festive initiatives (concerts, markets, recreational initiatives, etc.) and religious celebrations.

“The Sea Festival – in this regard, the councillor for major events Angelo Eliantonio underlines – is also and above all a celebration of the deep bond between the Doric city and the Adriatic, in all its facets. In this perspective, with the 2024 edition we want to delve deeper, in particular, the theme of professions related to the sea economy: on the one hand the traditional profession of fisherman and, on the other, the new training opportunities offered by the Polytechnic University of Marche”.

The talks
The first talk will take place right at the opening of the Festa del Mare, after the inauguration, scheduled for the Laghetti del Passetto, brought back to life in recent months, with a series of initiatives that have contributed to livening up the summer life of the city.

After the institutional greetings, which will begin at 18pm with the speeches of Mayor Daniele Silvetti, Councilor Eliantonio and Marco Pierpaoli, member of the board of the Marche Chamber of Commerce, at 18,30 pm we will talk about the Challenge of new skills at the service of the maritime economy.

It will be during this meeting that the following will be described: the two new UnivPm university courses dedicated to the blue economy, respectively on logistics infrastructures in the port area and on management for the sustainable valorization of fish resources.

The mayor Daniele Silvetti will speak, the Magnificent Rector of the Polytechnic University of Marche Gian Luca Gregori, Admiral Vincenzo Vitale, maritime director and commander of the port of Ancona. The talk will be moderated by journalist Maurizio Socci.

On Sunday evening, starting at 21pm at Banchina 1 of the old port, while waiting for the fireworks, Maurizio Socci himself will present the talk entitled Gente di mare: stories on the evolution of the fisherman's profession between innovation and continuity. Speakers will include Pasquale Frascione and Paolo Gissi of the Uomini delle Navi association, Federico Bigoni vice-president of Federpesca, Apollinare Lazzari president of the Ancona fishing producers association and Jacopo Toccaceli, city councilor delegated to promote typical products of the Ancona brand.
