Within the project Spaziomusica stage - the association that has organized AnconaJazz for half a century - next Friday 2 February, JOE BARBIERI, an eclectic and fascinating musician of Neapolitan origins, a leading figure on the national and international scene, will stop in Ancona, at the Mole Auditorium. Accompanied by his super trio, Barbieri will offer the audience a gripping performance, looking back over 30 years of career and presenting the most appreciated and loved themes of his vast discography.
Born as a natural evolution of The Streets of Jazz, STAGE Theater and Territory is the result of the collaboration between Spaziomusica and ten municipalities in the province of Ancona including the four that fall within the territory of the Conero Park, namely Ancona, Camerano, Sirolo and Numana but also Corinaldo, Ostra and other historic and new entries and is configured as an experience itinerant which aims to combine the beauty of music with that of the theaters of the province of Ancona.

Born in Naples in 1973, Joe Barbieri he is an unconventional figure. After an initial apprenticeship at the court of Pino Daniele, who was his first producer, Joe Barbieri made his debut in 2004 with the album “In Parole Povere”. This work, an irresistible kaleidoscope that combines world music with jazz and the Italian songwriting tradition, was published in twelve countries and won the title of album of the year by the German periodical Cd-Kritik.
2009 saw the publication of “Maison Maravilha”, distributed in Japan, North America and Europe, selling over 20.000 copies and obtaining the Lunezia Prize for the value of the lyrics. France described Barbieri as “a way to discriminate true grace from simple beauty” (Le Nouvel Observateur). The song “Malegría”, a poignant fado duet with Omara Portuondo, has become one of the highlights of this album.
“Respiro”, from 2012, saw the participation of artists of the caliber of Jorge Drexler, Gianmaria Testa, Fabrizio Bosso and Stefano Bollani. The album was a success in Italy, debuting in the FIMI charts, and consolidated Barbieri's international presence with concerts around the world.
Joe Barbieri is also recognized for his tribute albums to Chet Baker (“Chet Lives!”, 2013) and Billie Holiday (“Dear Billie,” 2019), as well as other projects that demonstrate his versatility and deep connection with the history of jazz.
2021 marked his return to his own songs with the release of "Based on a true story", a symphonic album with the participation of numerous artists, including Jaques Morelenbaum, Carmen Consoli and Mauro Ottolini.
During 2022, Barbieri wrote the lyrics to the song "Eternità" for the soundtrack of the TV series "Le Fate Ignoranti" by Ferzan Özpetek. Furthermore, to celebrate his thirty-year career, released the live anthology album “Tratto Da Una Notte Vera” on October 7, 2022.
