Air, water, fire and Earth, 'the living nature of culture' of Pesaro 2024 at the center of more than 20 meetings of the sustainability department.
It is called “The living nature of culture” the cycle of 20 meetings and appointments scheduled from Friday February 23 until May promoted by the Municipality's Sustainability Department to explore the connections between the four elements of life (air, water, earth and fire) and connect them to The nature of culture of Pesaro 2024.
“Through the science/art combination, we will try to focus on the climate crisis, the ecological transition and the policies that a local authority can apply in its own community to do its part in responding to climate change” explains Maria Rosa Conti, councilor for Sustainability and Cohesion. The theme of environmental protection will be explored in depth with initiatives designed with a communication method that "places music and art at the centre. We will retrace the artistic, philosophical, poetic and literary history that links Pesaro to sustainability to involve the public and convey to the heart and mind the message of commitment and awareness that must reach everyone".
To do this, the exhibition will involve, among others, Vandana Shiva and the "Words that change the world" (published by EMI) with which the environmental activist indicates terms and solutions for "an economy of care, a democracy of the Earth ” (in Pesaro on May 31st) and Emiliano Toso, musician and biologist, who Saturday February 24, 18 pm, he will propose his concert “Music for the Cells” (his Translational Music compositions have been used in the operating room to support doctors and young patients to document the therapeutic effects of music) in the church of the Annunziata.
For Daniele Vimini, deputy mayor, councilor for Beauty, the cycle of events starting on Friday is "an important contribution to the capital's program and very much in line with the theme of the 'living' nature of culture, among the 5 strands that form the Pesaro dossier 2024 each characterized by the union between natural and artistic heritage, sustainability and technology. A search for interconnections that aims to raise the heritage, themes and positions of the territory to a more advanced level".
And with an organic and glocal approach, as underlined by Grazia Francescato, environmentalist leader, journalist and writer who applauded the organizers for "the very well-chosen title of the event; the elements that will guide the initiatives are in danger today and we are with them, as is our economic base: economy and ecology are words linked by etymology and closely connected". Therefore it is "necessary to support the ecological transition, to have at heart the battle to safeguard the planet that I have been pursuing for 53 years. We risk a hasty and botched transition; to avoid it we must make a cultural leap, of collective conscience, which Pesaro 2024, in its year as Capital, can support and address externally with authority" and using communication that gives hope: "that catastrophist has had its day, the review instead, it will use science, art and music to give hope, targeting the heart and the brain."
The event will begin on Friday and Saturday, with events dedicated to the "Air Element". On 23 February, at 17.30 pm, the noble hall of Villa Caprile (strada di Caprile 1) hosts the conference "Change the climate, change the music" together with councilor Conti who will open the speeches on the theme "Otium versus negotium - The modern days Soriane" by the architect Roberta Martufi, "we will take inspiration from the work of Ludovico Agostini from Pesaro (1534-1590) and from the events of the 11 young Pesaro nobles of the nobility narrated in the text who, traveling from one villa to another, talk about science and philosophy. This is partly what we will try to do with the events of 'The living nature of culture' inspired by an ancient local document of international value".
In the afternoon there will also be space for Vittorio Pavoncello (director and environmental activist) and his speech "The climate changes, music doesn't" with a video screening and that of Rossano Ercolini, president of Zero Waste Europe who will present the book "We are Ocean. Manifesto for an ecology of change”.
On Saturday, we move to the W. Pierangeli hall of the Province (viale Gramsci 4), at 9.30 am for the "Proposal for a provincial climate manifesto", moderated by Grazia Francescato. Speakers will include the president of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino Giuseppe Paolini, the councilor Maria Rosa Conti, who will present "How to face the challenges of the climate. Strategies for a sustainable urban model". Paolo Sottocorona, meteorologist and TV presenter, will also be present; Sergio Ulgiati, professor of Environmental Chemistry and Life Cycle Analysis at the Parthenope University of Naples; Angelo Tartaglia, of the Department of Applied Science and Technology of the Polytechnic of Turin. Roberto Malini, writer, artist and researcher who, together with Fabio Patronelli, will present the video "Io sono Riceci".
Chiara Panicali, councilor of the Province, underlined on behalf of the institution: “We are happy to participate in the organization of this event included in an exhibition that enhances the combination of science and art and which connects with the future of our environment. A future for which it is necessary to initiate a participatory process of local administrations which must act by adopting an international vision and local interventions. On Saturday we will remember the good practices to protect the environment that the Province has already adopted, they will be incentives for debate and new planning ideas".
The day will continue at 18 pm, with the concert “Musica per le Cellule” by Emiliano Toso, musician and biologist, in the Annunziata church (via Annunziata 25). The moment will be introduced by Roberto Trignani, neurosurgeon at Ospedali Riuniti Torrette in Ancona.
Among the promoters of the event, also the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, as explained by the Vice-Rector for Sustainability and valorisation of differences Elena Viganò, who recalled "the University's commitment to meeting the challenge of climate change together through projects like the one we present today, a path in which art and science come together to create awareness and stir consciences. A profound conversion of our values is necessary which triggers, in cascade, a radical change in the choices of each individual as a consumer, administrator, citizen".
