Vicenza, the 76th Cycle of Classical Shows opens.
The Mayor Giacomo Possamai opened Thursday evening the 76th Cycle of Classical Performances at the Olympic Theater in Vicenza, entitled “Stella Meravigliosa”, whose shows run until 21 October 2023.
These are the words of the mayor:
«It is an honor for me to open the season of classical shows at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. I thank all those who committed themselves to this event, which represents one of the highest moments in the life and culture of our city. This month the Olimpico, but also the Odeo and the garden of the Theater and the Palladian Basilica, will host meetings, conferences, round tables and insights on the themes suggested by the shows on stage. For this I want to thank the artistic director Giancarlo Marinelli and those who made the project possible. In particular, the Olympic table made up of the municipality's department of culture, tourism and attractiveness, the Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza, the Olympic Academy, the Bertoliana Civic Library. I also thank the former mayor Francesco Rucco and the former councilor for culture Simona Siotto, who in the last mandate promoted the Classics exhibitions, including the one we are inheriting this year. The feedback from the public is already telling us that the city is paying great attention to this event. And it couldn't be otherwise, because the Olimpico represents the place for excellent events. It is a cradle of art, music and theater and above all an international pride for our city. It can happen that we take it for granted, but every time we accompany someone who has never been to this place and we see them with their mouths open, we are reminded of how lucky we are. Long live the Olympic Theater and long live the theatre."
